NFL 2018/2019 Thread

Wow. They did not find any alcohol in his system? He had to be on something?

reason for SF optimism - 5 of their losses have come against some of the top teams (all top 10) in the league right now, and their 1 win was also against a very good DET team. the outlier is AZ.

True, there is no leader, you got eli with 2 rings and they want barkley to be the team leader.... a rookie.... wow

But their oline hurts bad, worst then 9ers and raiders combined, i mean eli cant even drop back 2-3 steps before his line is pushed into him already. That starting left tackle getting paid like 65million kept letting the blindside slip..... that booker guy was fuck this guys payout - its not worth it!

That Barkley looks like the new age Beast mode.

I mean, they have Leadership in Eli, nobody is questioning that, but he is the end of the Era. I don't think anyone is looking at Quan to be the leader today, but he is doing a great job at that as a rookie right now. Reese did fuck up the Epic winners that Ernie Accorsi built though.

+1
When a team with a defense as bad as ATL beats up on a team there’s some huge holes that need to be filled. Doesn’t seem like 2-3 year reset. More like a free fall where the coaching staff and FO are still looking for the bottom.

Bah, this is a first year Coach and GM. They already have started the rebuild with Quan and Hernandez. Don't be hysterical, you're worrying too much. Any team with a winning pedigree can be rebuilt in 3 yearsish, it happens all the time. Sad to see that Snacks was traded, I think he brought more value than Vernon, but Vernon's contract is too monstrous to get rid of for his level of play.

It really is a fire sale, but this team can easily be competitive in 3. I am just sad they took this long to end the Jerry Reese era and get going.

yo i want whatever von miller is giving out @ his parties man.......

jk lol wait maybe not, seemed like the guy got roofied or something and just wandering around lost lol

history is brutal to those who get injured and can't put in a whole season's worth of numbers. the league was talking about watson last year, and then he got hurt. and that was it.

this year he didn't have any good games until tonight. and, of course, I'm playing a guy who has him on his fantasy team. fugger.

gotta give it to mahomes though. that guy is a bright and shiny star. and he has weapons, and in a good system...better than watson? offensively, yes.

Mahomes is special. The kid has the it factor it takes for a QB to take a team all the way. Kinda like RussW (even tho I hate to admit it...damnit).

Yeah, he really looks like the real deal. My hope is that he will be a good NFL example of letting a guy sit behind a vet for a year. I hate the newer trend of Draft and Start for QB. Guys like Aaron Rogers are not built in a day.

I agree but not ever team has a vet QB Pro Bowler to follow.

Agreed, but neither do they have to, you know? A Franchise QB is a thing that should be nurtured as an investment in the future. Just throwing a new guy to the sharks on an already bad team (which is pretty much universally how you get a high QB pick) is how you break a David Carr.

You let the new guy in, feel him out, hire a 1 year Vet to hold down the fort ala Kurt Warner in NY if you have to, and if you continue to be bad for the new guys first year, then hey, you get some new toys to draft high up for that guy to play with the following season, guys that can start right away and it makes sense like a Guard or a RB, maybe a WR for him to throw to. Those are all positions that it is easier to throw into the tank, because you have multiple guys playing the position on the field at the same time.

Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, there are a lot of contemporary guys this has worked for.

Kind of how Indy screwed over Luck. Great QB with a paper thin O line.

this is literally what i mean, everyone is on Mahomes jock

Watson had better stats the 1st 7 games of his career last year, then any other qb eva....... read better then your boy Mahomes.

Remember Mahomes had 1 year under Smith and Reid before taking the reins, taht means coaching staff got to dream up of stuff to make his play style win for them.

so, you're saying that you like that watson kid? :teeth

I hear ya. Mahomes is this year's 1st half Watson. And he did kinda set an NFL record for TD passes already. Both are pretty damned good.

I think if Watson was put in the same program shadowing smith and Reid with that coaching staff - he would be shining just as bright if not brighter.

And he would probably be protected a hell of a lot more too.

He was like the most pressured or hit or whatever still in the league right?

you may be right. I wouldn't doubt it. Houston is run-first, and not a very creative offense overall. and...I don't really want to advocate for a Chief haha

but realistically, mahomes 22 td, 5 ints I don't think is being reckless with the ball. although the 5 ints have come in the last 3 games...we'll see.

watson is 15/7 in a different offense. one could possibly make the case that these numbers are similar to mahomes's.
