NFL 2019

If you guys get a chance to watch Inside the NFL replays this week check out the segment where they show an analysis of offensive line movement by Shanahan. It was the most detailed sketch I have seen of how he does what he does with pre-snap movement (highest in the league) and how it confuses or confounds defenses.

Saw it. It's not just to disguise/confuse. It also decrypts the defense somewhat allowing the O to be on the same page.

Leading up to the game I kept hearing/reading how GB had gone over the previous one and devised a plan to reduce the mistakes, shut down the offense, and corral the front 4 on d. Made me think of the Mike Tyson quote: Everyoneth got a plan until they get punth in the fayth.

As for the next game I haven't formulated my thoughts on it yet. On first review it feels like it's going to be similar to the NO and Baltimore games.

Thanks for the head up BA.

I agree that Mahomes is the wild card, just like Wilson.
The dude is scary good for sure. Niners will have a better shot at corralling him, but just like Wilson he is slippery as hell and you can't cover receivers for 5 to 6 seconds effectively.

This is one of the best match ups a SB has had in my opinion.

Super Sweet! :banana

Yup.

I think Eldritch was referring to the dried up husk of a QB that Peyton was in 2015 and still was an efficient game manager for the playoffs and Super Bowl. Didn’t Manning even miss 6 or 7 games? It certainly made Brock Osweiler a star....

My buddy's family has season tickets, I think a pair. He's been on the flag team the past couple seasons. He gets to run out with the giant flags and then stay for the game.

Go the call yesterday, son of bitch gets to go to Miami with the team and run out with the flag. Unreal!

Sounds cool, except for the flag part.... :laughing

The last time the 9ers played a Super Bowl in Miami, Kathy Lee Gifford sang the national anthem, and the time before that the Overtown riots... I am not sure which was worse.

I kid, I KID! Mostly.... :laughing

Yeah, I didn't weigh in, but that SB with Denver Peyton was kind of your basic watershed moment of watching a just functional QB with a savage defense go out and win the biggest one. It was instructive. I guess the old days of fling 'em with Jim McMahon and the Bears was a precursor. I don't even know if McMahon was as good as more than half the starters this year but he sure had talent and ferocity around him which elevated the perception of his talents. I loved his sloppy recklessness at the time, the guy was like rock-n-roll personified but as I get older I think I have a better handle on what is unique QB talent.

As far as the Big Hype Machine for now, Mahomes is just so easy to get behind. Given laziness of human nature, of which sportswriters are, it's natch to pump the Chiefs. The storyline is already written, just alter your own adjectives and comparisons. Many wished they had prevailed last year; I sure did.

I don't know who doesn't love him, he is a unique star of the game. The ruin to riches narrative of the Niners are almost conflicting to many, I bet. If only it was Brady again, everybody would love the Niners hands-down. But Mahomes is deserving and even a part of me feels like I want him to have a ring (but of course I support my team).

But that's the thing, they already done got punched in the face earlier this year. Like Aikman or Buck said, they was takin' their manhood away.:laughing (oh, and right about outing the defensive reaction in pre-snap play)

Niners are just peakin' pure and simple. Beautiful to behold for us fan and objective fans of the game. What's not to like, unless you are into the cult of the QB....I really wonder how human the next two weeks will show them to be on Feb 2. The defense played at 11 for the whole first half then turned it down to about 7 or 8, which at least gave the Pack something to take home.

Parenthetical side note: I already mentioned Gore. I kinda wish Anquan Boldin had gotten to play with this year's squad too. I love that guy. He deserved better. A "grown man" as they say. But he wouldn't have caught any more passes than current WRs last Sunday anyway.

I believe Eldritch was referring to his time as a colt...they had a damn good offense, but a sieve for a defense.

Osweiler needs to thank Manning for the big paycheck. What a joke he was.

This brings up the great point about the modest money SF spent on Garoppalo. It won't doom them for the future as it has other teams having to pay up and watching great players head for the exits for greener contracts. Win or lose, the Niners keep looking like they know what the hell they were doing. But you wouldn't have heard that last January..... Gotta think about the long game.

Is that why he said "Denver"? :laughing

You're ALL over the place...

See post 1378. Ive been pretty consistent regarding the Manning syndrome that he originally mentioned. I won’t fault you for a short attention span, your a Raiders fan after all.:twofinger

Ugh thought Jimmy g signed a pretty lucrative deal.......not modest by any means at the time

Just checked, he broke the record back in 2018 for highest paid qb for 5 years.........

His contract is huge but so far he’s been worth it. I believe the New Orleans game was a great notch on his belt. He can be a game manager and a stud when needed. SF will be interesting in a few years when some of their defensive players want more money

You're clowning me, right? What's EBD's love for the 9ers got to do with this? :dunno

This is post 1378: https://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10508601&postcount=1378

ah, just noticed this thread! :thumbup

The thing about Lambert was his smile! :teeth

I liked the Bosa "slide" this season. Gotta be wet to work tho...:wtf

NINERS, NINERS, NINERS!

So. Much. Bronco. Fail. :facepalm :laughing

We can wait for you to get your grandkids to help you with the COM-PEW-TOR... :thumbup

Washed up placeholder??? He must of sucked, only putting up 55 TDs in 2013, his second season with Denver. I bet the Giants would like to have a washed up placeholder like that. :twofinger

Not hard when the opposing Offense gets 2:53 on the field the whole game due to the never ending Prison Rape the Denver D was inflicting on people. I mean, fucking Tim Tebow won a playoff game on that team. Like I said, his Superbowl with them, he had a QBR of like 67 or some shit. His glory years were for the most part entirely with the Colts. He had a couple of decentyears with Denver, but they never meant anything.

Of course I was. He played for like 12 years in Indy and won his first Superbowl there. No one thinks of him as a Bronco, do they? He spent like 3 washed up years in Denver being largely inconsequential.

That would be like calling Joe Montana one of the all time great Kansas City Chiefs.

On the subject of used up Mannings, Eli is announcing his retirement on Friday....

Easily in the HOF, IMO.

I hope he calls it and goes out with dignity. He is such a righteous dude, I would hate to see him Favre around for a few years.

Looks pretty official according to the NFL Network and ESPN... the announcement is on Friday.
