NFL 2021

The Cowboys showed who they really are by losing in the end. They won't be a front-runner but they sure have a lot of talent and stuff that is clicking.

But to get two turnovers in a row literally in the red zone and not ultimately win the game? I liked the redemption of Zueurlein finding his way back. I think he'll be fine.

OTOH, they looked ready to play, probably because of their teevee show, but Bucs looked rusty as hell to me. And of course they'll tune up and stay at the top this year.

Anyway, as far as Cowboys, something will always go wrong with that team and it seems like the MO henceforth. Sure, they might beat losing teams but it feels like deja vu watching ol Jerra get disappointed in the end (not unlike senile "Mr Davis" in the final years). That receiver CeeDee Lamb!. Wow. He impressed me. And Dak really is solid. He seemed very calm in his passing pockets and that's worth so much.

Anyway, it was a pretty fun season opener. I was mad that it just had to be Dallas but oh well....

Offensive pass interference SHOULD have been called on Godwin...

The refs are like NAZI's!!! (I "Godwinned" the NFL thread! :p)

Pass interference. It could have gone either way. The D-back was on his heels with 0 leverage. I don’t think it was any more egregious than nearly all other WR/DB contact. Even the defensive guys on this mornings ESPN Get Up said it was a good non call.

When Dallas made that FG at the end to take the lead, they did a cut shot of Brady. He had that, you're about to get fk'd look on his face. Like he knew the game was over in favor of TB winning on the final drive.

The NY press, including NFL Network, can put to bed any intimations that the Jets or Giants will be competitive. :rofl

I was so rooting for Cleveland to beat KC but it didn't happen but looks like Cleveland might be making another step forward this year.

I talked to my friend Friday about football and damn I was wrong on almost all of my picks.

Not that many had any illusions about that, but who was even suggesting the Jets would be any good? Do you even understand that being a Jets fan in NY is like being a Clippers fan in L.A.? :laughing

They are not a real football team and left to sit in the refuse bin with other teams that wear green. :laughing

Drove in today, listening to radio guys masticate yesterday's Niner game,

My perspective, to offer something different, from the overall consternation is that the Lions had a storybook ending going, with new coach, new QB, at-home etc., but the Niners finally ended that so the Lions can go back to knowing they suck, they have a new QB with limited ability and who knows how new HC will make it.

So ya know. I'm not dying over the twists and turns. The Lions were playing their guts out trying to get that momentous win.

I don't get the logic of sending Lance in for a telegraphed run-option but we know he's going to run play. I felt like he was being exposed unnecessarily to getting hurt in that way. I dunno, initiation by pain or something? I don't think his greatest value is as an RB so I was non-plussed. He's not Taysom Hill.

But it was an entertaining, almost thrilling game.

Love that they kept Hasty!!! And mini-Mostert is a good way to view Mitchell.

They better get a secondary though....jaysus.

Goff's second half was pretty good, he can be mercurial like that.

I was watching RZ...

Rodgers looks like that dude ya worked with at a crappy job for a shitty boss that gave his 2 week notice... we all KNOW that guy, hell, some of us HAVE BEEN that guy... he just didn't give a crap.

The Bengals, Chargers, Patriots, and Eagles found their quarterbacks. The Giants, otoh, have not.

If Newton gets vaxxed, I can see him signing with The WFT, they need someone.

Even though the Steelers won, I'm pretty sure it was in spite of Rothelesberger... he looked like Don Strock out there. Now mind you, Strock is 70+ years old.

.

Aaron Rodgers as the new Jay Cutler! Awesome.

Some in NFL network picked Giants to win division. Most thought Jets would be "better"........but they're not. a. real. football. team. Giants QB is same ole same ole. A turnover machine.

All Detroit points came in garbage time. No one playing tight defense for Niners because no one wants to get hurt. The score wasn't as close as it looked.:x

The entire 2nd half is garbage time? :laughing

Please tell that to Brady and Mahomes, I'm tired of their fantastic comebacks... makes the games sooooooo boring. ;)

Well Verrett is out for the season with an ACL. Niners were soft in corners to begin with. Looking to sign Sherman back.

Mostert out for awhile with cartilage issues, least not an ACL.

I was expecting the defense to look more dominant than the offense but the opposite happened.

JG still doesn't seem to ever have zip/power on his throws.

Aiyuk had no targets, hoping it's a hammstring thing and hes back. He, Deebo, kittle, Sherfield and running game should put up points.

I always get nervous when a team is up a lot early. Game takes forever as offensively they run it a lot BUT the opposing team is throwing it so the clock rarely ticks down fast enough.

It is weird. We are used to a fierce defense, one that plays well even when the offense is screwing up terribly. And I really worried we'd lose it when Saleh left. Can't say for sure.

I chalk this one up to opening day not-really-ready to play. It didn't help that everyone on the planet decided Niners would win easy. Like I said before, Detroit was really trying, I think to win one for their gipper.

That said, I think our offense is going to be great with the addition of new guys. I think they were hitting Samuel because the combos were working. I have full confidence Aiyuk will get his turn in succeeding games if healthy.

Didn't you love that Kittle reception when he smacked the D guy out of his way? HA. As long as Kittle is on the field, we have a chance. He's just nutty like Gronk, a wildman.

There has to be somebody with younger wheels than Sherman, tho...They are going to get eaten alive if they don't get new guys in that backfield.

Not really, Danny did fine except for the shit protection. He had better completion % and yards per attempt than Josh Allen. Didn't throw a pick. It really just comes down to the known TRash O-Line. DD fumbles and Saquan gets nothing because there is no Line, without it, Peyton Manning eats shit all day too.

Not sure what kind of Nimbos were calling Blue for the Division unless it was over the summer before half the Offensive starters went out injured in pre-season.

I mean obviously the Superbowl is ours this year, no doubt :teeth, but we all knew DC was the team to beat for Division with that Defense they have. Looks like Cowgirls are in the mix too, but I think they suckerpunched the Champs and won't look that good much later this year.

Is Sherman even out of jail yet?

Man, he can come coach but he is done as a regular player. I don't know what people are smokin to think it would be wise to sign him. Like most of the white wine and cheez set, I went from hatin him to thinking he had great value as a mentor on that field.....

Speaking of out of control: I do have to say that what seemed like an irredeemable headcase, Antonio Brown, seems to have figured something out....or maybe we just have to wait a few months till he loses it again...

I think this will be the norm with NFL moving forward. Since practices have limited hitting and pad work and little actual game speed, there's going to be more unconditioned players starting the season and more injuries. Best football wont be played until game 6+ from now on.
