NFL 2021

That would be fucking hilarious. Dude's not a good NFL coach.

4 seasons....44 wins, 19 losses, 1 tie, won the NFC West twice, NFC Title once, lost the SB to a very good defensive Ravens team, lost the second NFC Title to a very good Seahawks team. Sure, his last season sucked when the niners went 8-8. There have been coaches who've done less in the same 4 year period.

Would you put Steve Mariucci over him? :laughing Ya'll want Mike Nolan back? :laughing

Right. As soon as he didn't have a historically good like possibly top 5 of all time defense, he couldn't win. He took over a stacked team and once it couldn't stay together he bounced.

His clock management was absolutely horrid. He throws tantrums on the sideline like a fucking child. He's also a monumental asshole who belittled his boss in front of the team.

He's also only had 1 decent season at Michigan. He's lost 3, 3, 5, 3, 4, 4 (Covid), and now 2 games including getting pummeled by Georgia in the CFB Playoff. Losing 2 games in college is considered a letdown.

He's overrated as fuck. Yes I will die on this hill.

Calls are getting louder for John Mara to step down....

https://www.nj.com/giants/2021/12/a...ics-around-the-nfl-wonder.html?outputType=amp

But ya can't just fire the owner (as Raider fans know).

He's gonna become the new Al Davis if Tisch doesn't step in ... :laughing

LOL, not even close to Davis level chicanery, we spent too many years laughing at Jerry Jones for that.

Nevertheless, now that Gettleman is about to be gone, if the next man up doesn't strike gold with our wealth of draft pics next year, there will have to be a conversation.

I still blame this garbage fire of a team on 10 years of draft mis-management from Jerry Reese. The great Ernie Accorsi built is up one of the Best O-Lines in football, stuck his neck out for what became a pending HOF QB in Eli Manning, and made the pass rush a monster, then retired.

Welligton died, Ernie retired, and Blue simply hasn't been able to find the right hires ever since, which is tough, because the team has been in a state of slow decay since Ernie packed it up in 2007. We carried the momentum and won another Superbowl a few years after (should have been two more, fucking Plaxico), so a lot of people didn't notice while I was complaining about bad draft picks and shitty free agent choices when the team was still playing well.

Dave Gettleman made sense as a call back, he was a Director of player personnel under Accorsi. Clearly though it didn't work out.

He actually did a great job cleaning up our salary cap disaster that Jerry Reese left behind. He just couldn't find the picks though, so now we have to assume next man up will be a thing.

The Mara's are not going anywhere, we turn 100 years old in 3 more years, but one playoff appearance every 5 years is not going to cut it for us. If whoever the next GM is doesn't make serious improvements, ownership will have to take a serious look at how they do business.

One thing we can always be glad for, at least we are not the Lions.

Or the Jags.

Or the Jets...

It kills me when they get arrested sleeping. They are not being a threat. Yes, they were momentarily before they pulled over. BUt now they are not. So you punish them. THe thing is, never pull over, just keep driving drunk, is the real message. (yes, I know the obvious but still, you will never completely stop people from drinking and driving). This is one of the more obscure reasons that coffee-drinking is a thing at closing time.. Nobody really sobers up, but they don't dare fall asleep. I spose the judge might give consideration, I dunno. Is that why its a misdemeanor and not a felony in this case?

The sleeping in the car DUI is almost as much utter bullshit as the Bicycle DUI. Nevertheless, given the current situation with the Raiders, you would think a starting CB would do better, even if he is a rookie.

You wanna barge if you're gonna be in da'nile? :laughing

Also, I'm gonna miss Ben Rothelesberger a little bit, he was 2-6 against the Raiders. :laughing

:wtf

Explain to me, with your excellent knowledge of daily operations at the New Jersey facility, how exactly you feel Mara is another Jerry Jones or Al Davis. Those guys are/were a fucking circus act, an embarrassment to the sport.

I know you can't do it with operational news interviews during the season, because he has minimal interaction with the press other than typical owner stuff.

Worst case scenario is he just runs the team poorly for an extended period and becomes another Sheila Ford or Shad Khan.

I see no reason to expect he discards all of his dignity and becomes a public joke like Jones or Davis.

:dunno

Getteman finally getting axed?

Not official yet, but it is a safe assumption.

I reckon it may be too late... :laughing

Oh yeah, it has been bad. Just one playoff appearance since the last Superbowl win 10 years ago, but for some perspective, The Detroit Lions have not had a playoff win since 1992

Deflection ain't gonna make your team better.... :laughing

I'm not really deflecting? If you are looking for someone to get butthurt and defend their team as better than they are, I'm not a Raider fan, I won't do it.

:teeth

I know how bad the Giants are right now, I don't think there is any shame in being content that we are not the WORST while we sort this out.

The worst run of Football we ever had lasted 16 Years from 1964 to 1980, these are known as the darkest days of Professional Sports, and all Football in the mid-60's through the 70's should never be acknowledged. :laughing

We are 5 Seasons off our last Playoff game, I have zero concerns we will go another 10 years and beat that terrible run of suck.

I'm cool to watch the numbers and see how my guys are doing in the meantime and I always call it straight, good or bad.

Do not compare a Jones to Davis, Jones is just a rich guy that bought his way into a club. Al stole his way into that club and then beat everyone else into submission.

https://www.si.com/nfl/raiders/news/al-davis-oakland-raiders-legacy

According to Forbes, in 1966, Davis bought 10 percent interest in the Oakland Raiders for $18,500, or a little over $147,000 adjusted for inflation.

In the last 5 years my team has better than the Giants. I find some comfort in that.... :laughing

Dude, why? We have been a mess for almost 10 years with one decent season in the middle. Truth is, even over the last 20 years, despite 2 Rings, we aren't very good in the regular season typically. Even in that '07 Superbowl were went into the playoffs a wild card. :laughing

We tend to be kind of up and down and occasionally throw out an invincible period of hard steel, but we are not a good measuring stick for regular season success like the Pats or Pack who kind of are always winning in the regular season.

Usually they are a reasonably competitive team and a good candidate for the, "Any Given Sunday," threat, but right now in the last 5 years, we have been in the bottom 3-5 teams every single year.

Losing Daniel Jones to injury really seems to have broken this teams back right now, so they are nosediving from a pretty low height.

I reckon the only reason we won't end up lower than the Jags or Lions this year, is because there isn't enough time in the season left to keep falling.

Wait, so the team that had gone to the Playoffs every year for 4 years prior to beating the Niners in the Superbowl, who repeated and went to the Superbowl again the year after (and lost), and are now going to the playoffs again this year.

They only beat the Niners, who hadn't had a winning season in 6 years before that superbowl season, and who were a 6 win team the season after that Superbowl and are 3rd in their division this year, they only beat them because of a conspiracy from the Refs, not because KC was the better team?

Kansas City's trophy needs an asterisk, "won by the Refs?"

:wtf
Thank you. I seem to recall that Shanahan publicly called out The Chiefs for holding the week before the game. For some reason I have that Super Bowl recorded so I’ll watch again to see if if the refs decided they’d call the game their way not the coaches way. :dunno
I think the Tampon Bay defensive line deserved some credit last year.
