NFL 2021

Is it wrong of me to cheer every time the Rams lose. I so want them to eat shit after how smug they were when they mortgaged the future to get Stafford and I want it to implode on them and see the look on McVays face when they realize they missed going to the SB this year.

It's not wrong but I wouldn't count them out. Just remember General Bill Walsh's musings on "Fortune" when it comes to football games, winners and losers.

The most damning thing was discussed yesterday on KGMZ, when Bruce and Ratto were talking about how little influence the Rams have in the LA basin. They are not beloved since the move to and back from St. Louis. A brand-new shiny stadium with seemingly more Niner fans than Rams on a 12-4 season...that's pretty pathetic. I think the Raiders won the likely demographic down there and still hold it, despite two moves! And like you say, what they did to get the talent this year....wow.

3 head coaches in 5 years, and going for a fourth?

Yeah, I think it is an overcorrection, we are burning everything to the ground now, probably even some things we should keep, but it should make getting the GM we want easier.

Apparently we have already asked permission to talk to the Draft Directors from the Chiefs and the Bills.

ya know, I'm getting a little peeved about this QB ranking shit. Carr outdueled Herbert with a worse o-line, not nearly as talented passcatching corps, and a lesser-rated RB. He had a better passer rating than Herbert (88.4 to 80.4) for the game. And most of all, he won the game with a fantastic throw to Jones for the 1st down that set up Jacobs getting the yardage needed for the game winning figgie. Yet there's nothing but praise for the smug-looking princess boy, and only symbolic pats on the head for Carr. That's fucked up IMO.

I understand everyone likes the shiny new object, but put Carr in the LA offense and they would be playoff bound, whereas Herbert couldn't get it done.

:bs:superhawk

I'm a raider fan, but did you watch the game Herbert's 4th down performanceS definitely boosted his rating overall

B4B forgot to mention the Raiders suspect DB's (pun intended) performance that allowed those 4th down catches.... :laughing

Let's just enjoy a few days of playoff dreams... :laughing

Herbert's 4th down prowess was amazing and highly irritating, lol.

As we know, 4th quarter passing for the team who's losing, going up against prevent defenses often highly pad QBs stats. This should mean Herbert's rating was artificially high for the game, and he still had a lower rating than Carr. Also to mention, Herbert has an probowl WR in Allen, and alternate probowlers in Ekeler, Williams and Cook.

so I think we're in agreement?

It's been a rough 20 years for sure, even that 2016 season was painful because Carr got injured right before the playoffs.

I mostly blame JaMarcus Russell, and the transition from the death of Big Al. But bad management and poor decision making still haunt the team. Somehow they've fought their way through their typical Raiders-ness with a slow and steady sea change of culture and overall talent that has them in the playoffs in spite of their shortcomings. To have an interim coach lead the team to the playoffs is indicative of small positive steps in the right direction back to prominence.

Wasn't there a reset in 2016?

For the Giants? No, Eli was still starting in 2016 and we went to the playoffs that year.

The Raiders were still starting Derrek Carr in 2016, they still had Amari Cooper and K-mack in 2016, so I don't think so?

I mean, the Raiders haven't been able to string more than the occasional winning season together since 1985, almost 40 years ago. They had a good 3 year run around that season they went to the Superbowl and got stomped on in Gruden's Revenge, which was 100% on Al Davis, so it seems kind of silly to blame Jacarcus, doesn't it? The Raiders had double digit losses for like 5 years straight before Jacarcus got signed.

The Chiefs sure were excited to get Marcus Allen though.

Raiders: Playoff runs in the early 90's, late 90's, and early 2000's culminating in a Super Bowl appearance... :dunno

Given the injuries that Mack and Cooper have had recently I'm not sure anyone will fault those trades.

Edit: Don't forget, Gruden's loss to the Raiders in a game where Jacarass was the QB was the final straw that got him fired from Tampa Bay. :laughing

That isn't right. After '93, the Raiders didn't get to the playoffs again until the aforementioned good 3 seasons in the 00's with Rich Gannon. He was old AF when he came to Oakland, but he played pretty damn well for a few years with the Ghost of Jerry Rice on the field. That was really a good offense.

You say "that isn't right" and then essentially repeat what I wrote... :facepalm :laughing

Didn't you have a relative on that Raider team that beat Gruden's Bucs in 2008?

No, I'm saying there was no Late 90's playoff run. After '93 they were terrible until the three year run in the 00's with Gruden. Yeah, my cousin was a DE that mainly played Special Teams for Oakland from '08-'10.

He didn't do much, but he got to sack the ghost of Jeff Garcia. :laughing

8-8 seasons in '98 & '99 were like playoff runs, especially towards the end of the season... :laughing

Gruden was fired right after the loss to the Raiders, and for one game JaCarcas looked like he could be a QB in the NFL. Didn't last...

Hmm.. That sounds like SCIENCE. I'll allow it.

:laughing

Yeah, Jacarcus was intriguing because of his size, but what a shit work ethic. I'm so glad they have killed large rookie contracts. The point I was making though was more that Jacarcus was just kind of a bump in the road, hard to blame for more than jusr mayeb 4 years of troubles in da Town.

I honestly never thought to ask Greyson what he was like at practice/in the locker room.

I'm an old raiders fan :afm199 but they have a couple more moves in them before they see another superbowl.

Maybe it will be as the Mars Raiders, but it probably won't happen until they are the Uranus Raiders :twofinger
