How many 150hp bikes have you ridden? I have no problem winding out my 150+rwhp bike on public roads without flipping the bike over or having uncontrollable breaks in traction. No rider aids either.

Just because you can't mash on a bike with all that power in 1st gear, doesn't mean you can't use the power. Guys regularly drive turbo busa's/ninjas on the road that make well in excess of 300hp. I do agree, the street variant won't be anywhere near 300 (who knows about the race bike? 300hp shouldn't be too tough with no emissions and high octane fuels).

Well said. Some people make it sound like idiots can only loop on powerful bikes. Plenty of Youtube vids with idiots looping low HP bikes too so that point is pointless.

Similar things were said for bikes of the past too i.e., 60 HP Vincent, etc. Production bikes like autos will continue to get more and more powerful and there will be those that know how and can ride safely regardless if it's a 1200 HP Veyron or a 200HP ZX14R...
 
The point you're making is so inconsequential and out in left field relative to the discussion about the H2.

Likely correct; but let's not forget the drag racers. All over the USA there's a drag strip in almost every town. The zx14r was launched w/the strip in mind & demoed by Ricky Gadson (popular KAW drag racer.)

I think the racer is the real target; KAW wants to see them at every track every week. They will be at Bonneville & El Mirage, & some will be roadraced by those w/the $$$/sponsors.

Think of this: the streetbike is just a de-tuned racebike, not the other way around. Wooopie! :teeth:thumbup

Some are mile (called monster mile).

Shouldn't be hard for rider/racers that use the same bike for road race tracks, and street use... To picture some rider/racers use the same bike for Monster mile, and the street. Or..dedicated.. Still the lowest cost way to get there.
 
It's not about having it, it's about it being PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to use that power. No one will ever use more than about 150 hp on that bike, except during top-speed, 180+ mph runs in high gears.

You telling me that with 500hp they are using less than 300 at all times? Lest they wheelie so hard they bump their heads on the moon? :wtf :laughing

How much thrust do you think it takes to make a bike (with a normal wheelbase) wheelie?

Thrust is a function of engine power and gearing. A 100 hp bike will wheelie in 1st gear on the throttle, without using the clutch, no? A 300 hp bike would wheelie even more in 6th with the same gearing (6th gear is usually about twice as tall as 1st gear), so you can't use the full 300 hp with typical gearing.

You can of course gear the bike crazy high, so it doesn't wheelie in 6th anymore. But you can't use the full 300 hp then either, because the engine won't rev high enough to generate its full power. At least not until you're going 180+ mph.

Geometry (i.e. propensity to wheelie) and gearing place hard physical limits on how much power a motorcycle can actually put down on the ground. So yeah, unless all those people with 500 hp bikes have insanely long swingarms and anti-wheelie bars (and I'm sure some of them do), or unless they spend a lot of their riding time at 200+ mph, then no, they're not using anywhere even close to 500 hp.

There are A LOT of factors and basic concepts that you are missing. It isn't just about horsepower and gearing. My little KDX200 will power wheelie in first gear, no problem. This bike has right around 30 horsepower. By your logic, any bike with more than 60 horsepower will power wheelie easily in 6th.

What you are not grasping is that none of these bikes will power wheelie when the throttle is rolled on at a reasonable rate. I can guarantee you that I could roll on pretty hard in 6th gear on a 250+ horsepower bike and not have the wheel come up. I could also reach WOT without pulling a power wheelie. It just comes down to how the power is applied, not the number itself. That's about the simplest way to put it.

its NOT THAT FAR OF A REACH to have electronics harness 250-300hp

You realize this thing is going to have an utterly ridiculous amount of mid-range torque, too, right? It's not just the peak power number. A fairly fast rider could probably just leave this thing in 3rd gear all day long and haul baulz pretty good. :party

Ha ha, no, I understand how power works fairly well. I'm just debating the illusions that the peak power number is all that matters, and that 300 hp on a bike with a normal wheelbase is somehow usable.

Your KDX200 is very light and geared low, so that's why it will wheelie so easily. If you doubled the power in the KDX200 without changing anything else, then yeah, it would wheelie in 6th too.

You can roll on the throttle at a reasonable rate, but then you're not using the full power of the engine. Which is exactly my point. You can reach WOT without pulling a power wheelie if the bike is geared high enough, but then you have to be going crazy fast to reach the RPM where the engine makes its peak power number. Which is my other point.
 
You still aren't understanding the concepts very well. I agree that using the 300 horsepower would not be a common occurrence. It would, however, be perfectly possible to do (yes, without looping the bike and/or killing myself).

FWIW, I tend to buy smaller, lighter bikes with lower horsepower numbers. A bike like the H2 in no way interests me, as I think it is silly for street riding. Just because it doesn't suit me and my wants doesn't mean it isn't perfect for someone else. I'm also well aware of the fact that horsepower is merely a number and can be quite misleading.
