lol, I felt the same way when they did their barrel age drakonic. Was there a long line? I'm going to stop by tomorrow and pick up some bottles.

I got there at 2 and it was dead. I assume by 5:30 it was insane like normal.

Went there today and was sad to find out I couldn't take any of the Aroma Therapy back home.

Back from Germany since Tuesday.

Brought home two bottles of woodruff syrup for making Berliner Weissen cocktails. Only problem is, I can't find any sour hefeweizen to mix with it. I thought it would be no problem but only sour beers I have found thus far are Belgian and darker things that won't work. Berliner Weisse is fairly low alco light colored beer.

So, I ask the knowledge base, have any of you seen an actual Berliner Weisse for sale around here? I found only brewery in LA that makes one, but its only for draft, not bottle. I peeped in the window at Plumpjack this morning (they didn't open until noon), stopped by Ledgers (closed on Sunday), the Albany bev-mo and a few regular stores. The guy at Albany Bevmo recommended a place in Walnut Creek called Ol or something that might have it.

I visited a buncha liquor stores today. I have a few more to try but it's not lookin hopeful.

You can give Beer Revolution or The Good Hop a call if Oakland isn't to far for you.

Thanks for tips, will call today. Just for yesterday, I ended up getting some Weisse-bier from Wehnerstephaner. It was close to right but I'm gonna follow up, especially the one in Berkeley. We brought two bottles of the syrup so we're good for quite a few. Here's info about the beer, I didn't realize it was an endangered species because it was very popular there in Berlin.

For drinkers, we also bought home a bottle or Becherovka from Prague (cinnamon schnapps type-o-thing). We noticed that Czechs followed up massive schnitzels and beers with that stuff to finish the meal.

The Rare Barrel in Berkeley specializes in sour beers

Ya, but for him... They only have one beer that is bottled right now for sale and it cost $25. You can't get a growler of their beers unless you are part of the club. You only go there just to drink there.

It's 85 degrees in my house and I'm just sitting here drinking ice cold Firestone 805.

Wow. I sent them an email but I did notice their whole approach seemed pretty exclusive. We'll see if I get an answer. You cannot get any farther than the 1 Euro 1/2 litre beer in Germany....

I'm gonna check out the Ol place in Walnut Creek today. They don't open till noon.

For the record, I just received a very helpful email from the Rare Barrel noting that while they don't make a Berliner Weisse-bier, they gave me a recommendation of an imported one and where I can buy it, which I thought was outstanding.

The people that work their is awesome. They even do a podcast called "The sour hour". Kind of boring if you are not really into beer.
Here at Harry's and really enjoying this Coconut Milk DIPA
