Official BARF BEER Crew

Knee deep makes my favorite IPAs. Hoparillo is my favorite.

IPAs are more susceptible to age than any other beer type. There can be a big difference in taste within a few months. Check the bottled date, most beers have one printed on the bottles.

Doesn't hops have a preservative effect?

Gotcha. I like a good IPA, but there are plenty of other styles I'd rather drink :thumbup

Yes, itll survive a boat trip and be drinkable, but it sure wont taste the same.

Whichs why the hole purpos of hailing the drinking of an IPA in non-boat-crossing age is a bit weird.

But Abacinator is on to something here. I too like IPA more if it's fresh, new and/or cold from a new bottle ..even if it's a little stale in an open bottle it gets worse.

It was just a happy accident that ipas taste good fresh. Theres plenty of things we eat now that were discovered out of necessity that we dont really need anymore., but just taste good.

+1 also, the hop character masks the sweet taste of the higher alcohol content beers...so yeah, cuz it tastes good.

There are a couple bars downtown that serve Racer 5. One fails to clean their taps on any regular basis and it effects the taste in a very noticeably bad way.

What up barfers? Time for a thread revival!

Where are you and what are you drinking tonight? I've got frosty Born Yesterday and Waldo waiting for me after class.

Also, get your Dales on with Oskar Blues at San Pedro Square Market this Thirsty Thursday!!

I recommend grabbing a 6 pack regardless, clocking at nearly 12%, just 2 and you're good! If you're in Fremont, i believe the BevMo there had a bunch, pic attached

Anybody going to the Bay area craft beer festival in Martinez on the 22nd? I can't make it this year but it's always a fun event.

Went to a Revision Brewery night. Their dipa "What What" was super mellow and good. 9.1%, had 4 and don't remember much more than I got to take my glass home.

I won't be there, but I already got my tickets for the Firestone Invitational in June :thumbup

Their tickets sell out super fast. At 6am I had 3 computers locked and loaded to try to get anything I could, and they sold in about 5 seconds. Crazy

Revision was started by the former (I believe) brewmaster at Knee Deep, so expect their beers to be heavy hitters like Knee Deep's doubles and triples
