Official BARF BEER Crew

:wtf

My friend brought that nasty crap over the other day.

Funky smell, very little hop flavor, too sweet...more like Lil Sumpin.

I like their basic IPA but not much else from Lagunitas.

Hm. I like it. What can I say?

Spent a couple hours at Alameda Island Brewing yesterday. I really enjoyed the altbier and their kölsch is unique and refreshing.

My favorite breweries, across most of their offerings, in Sonoma County are Bear Republic, Fogbelt and 101 North.

I visited Fogbelt. :thumbup It was a pleasant experience for the drink, the food and for buying a bottle 'to go' :)

How about Third Street Aleworks in Santa Rosa?

My group performed for a benefit last night. One of the contributors was a local distributor of Czech beers.

I had a bottle of Lev Pale Double Bock. OMG. Officially my favorite beer. I've had several of Lev beers varities at past events, but they are a great brew.

Hey, I was able to successfully google search a sink thread! booyah, I think I just leveled-up on my internet skills.

anyways, I'm going to San Diego this next week and am really looking forward to imbibing some tasty IPAs. I got the Ballast Point and the Green Flash for sure. What else shall I not be missing? I'm staying in the gaslamp district, if that helps.

cheers!

Check out Pizza Port / Port Brewing. They do some great stuff. Stone is worth checking out; particularly if you are a hophead. If you manage to get up to Orange County, check out The Bruery.

Their basic ipa is one of the only beers they make i hate. :laughing

Like many people around the bay area, i have consumed a lot of this beer. I know what it tastes like. Recently I have gotten twelvers that taste disgusting to me. I notice it has much finer bubbles and a very sweet smell and taste. I had to stop buying it. Now it's racer 5 or torpedos usually, which sucks because although the replacements are decent, Lagunitas IPA was my standard and I liked it.

Anyone else experience this? Is it that I am getting old beer? It seemed to only be from safeway that I noticed this bad taste but now I have noticed it at other places (I was thinking Safeway was buying and storing pallets of it and not rotating stock)

I want my IPA back damn it!

I'm not a fan of Lagunitas IPA. I like a lot of their specialty stuff, but the "C-hopped" West Coast IPA style is not my favorite.

It maybe like the taste grew old to you? That's what happened to me. I had a jockey box and bought two 15.5gal kegs of lagunitas IPA in a row. I expected more people to come over so I could share, but I ended up drinking the vast majority of it both times. by the end of the 2nd keg, I was pretty much done with the taste and avoided buying it from then on.

Perhaps this is possible, but I noticed alternately bad and good twelvers.

I tried tweeting them, LOL, no response. I may head over to the brewery for an investigation/interigation...

I haven't been following this thread but beer and I are friends.

There is a beer store in Alameda that stocks this German beer. It's amazing. Super crisp, but smokey. The smokey taste is what makes it amazing.

THis is good! It's also 11% :teeth

Knee deep makes my favorite IPAs. Hoparillo is my favorite.

IPAs are more susceptible to age than any other beer type. There can be a big difference in taste within a few months. Check the bottled date, most beers have one printed on the bottles.

Lupulin River is my fave...they know their way around a hop varietal, that's for sure :thumbup

-I'm sure I was drinking the freshest Lagunitas IPAs...still got tired of it.

oh and Simtra: yeah, really good at hiding the alcohol/sugar. but at the end of the pint/day, it hits you just like any other 11%er
