It's not uncommon in the modified vehicle world. I would never do such a heinous illegal thing. No sir. That headstock was always part of this bike, officer.

(Hypothetically speaking of course), wouldn't you at least need to recover the VIN tag? I'd imagine on that particular car it is slag.
 
Or a car with utterly lost and untraceable or unrecoverable registration?

It might be, or one could use the melted vin as a way to maybe get one assigned-it varies by state. I've seen plenty of vehicles with such convoluted paperwork one could never hope to get it registered, despite it not being hot. Itseven worseif you're an idiot like me and discover you've restored something, only to find there's just no way to get it on the road. At that point, you need a parts car.
