Old USGP Photos

How could it be a repost, Superbike Planet just posted those picture galleries. :x

If you notice, even Dean at Soup throws in a "repeat" in the title.... :teeth

A couple years back they ran galleries of old Laguna pics, including some of mine. I think the the links in the old thread are still good.

Ah, thanks for the clarification!

I hadn't seen them the last time around. Cool pictures, Laguna Seca has changed considerably over the years!

Thanks, I am glad too see people like these old photos.
I wish I knew how to use my camera better and had a few more lenses back then.

I remember reading that at a riders' meeting before one of the earlier GP's Gardner was complaining about the condition of Laguna, he said it was bumpy and dangerous through the Corkscrew... Johnny K. shut him up by asking what he raced on in Australia, red carpets!

:laughing

Great pics!

Hehehehe, that's funny. Knowing the tracks that Wayne DID ride on here in Oz during his early career, I can tell you they were NO red carpets, not even CLOSE!!!!

Did he inspect the tracks in Australia as closely as he inspected Laguna in 1990? :teeth

Superbike Planet posted up some more old Laguna Photo's 1983 Laguna Seca Archive Images images by wayne baker
In this picture below, did they connect the rear stand to the bike?

Yes, they did. The rear axle was hollow and the stand had tubes at the top that matched the hole in the axle. A rod was passed through the tubes and though the axle so that the stand became attached to the bike. It was then flipped up and temporarily secured to the tailpiece of the bike by a bungee cord so that the bike could be moved from place to place.

I have some on the grid with is helmet.

All the best to you,
David

Thanks David, if you go through the photo section here you will see that this forum is full of lots of great photographers. I still feel like a amateur hack with bad photoshop skills myself.
