Not sure if this is the place to post it or not, but I'm gonna anyway:

Why do people ride around with 1 headlight out on their bikes? I never understood the reason for this cause i'd think you want to have both on for 2 reasons: 1, visibility (being able to see better with both headlights in the dark), and 2, visibility (others being able to see you during the day).

:wow?????:wow

safety.

at night a motorcycle at speed with both lights appears to be a car that is futher in the distance than a motorcycle at close range.

Because that's how the low beam on a lot of bikes works.

Exactly. You legally can't ride with both on at night, because then you are riding around blinding people with your brights.

a few bikes have one of thier headlights as low beam and the other as high beam, ive heard of peopel moding thier bikes to have both function as low

Motorcycles: None Yet.

It's always been this way with dual headlight bikes - one light is low and the other is high. Some (most?) faired sportbikes do this too, probably as kind of a carry-over from this convention.

I got the comment that my r6 was missing a headlight more than once already.

I sent my 848 back beacuse of this problem. They exchanged it for another, but it seemed to do the same thing. Any suggestions?

Not all dual headlight bikes. Both headlights on my friend's speed four are high and low.

good question! I didn't know this. I thought the single headlight was a track thing. Man.. I still have a lot to learn!

I think that is incorrect older sport bikes with dual headlights used both lights for low beam. For example check out the older GSX-Rs, FZs and CBRs.

oh come on there was a period where you didn't have a bike.

potato bugs give me the creeps and i hate your avatar everytime i see it.

I found one in my bed once.... I tried to kill it with a shoe!

Now I am trying to face my fear of them, like Batman. You should see the Potato-Bug-Man cave... it rocks!

my bike has 3 headlights but on my buddies bike, 05 yamaha r6, i modded it so when the headlight switch is in the downward position both lights are off and once its flipped up both lights are on. that's how he wanted it so i just did it for him. but one light is the low beam and the other is the high beam. i don't know how far your guys lights project but night time on the freeway for me is like crawling into a cave with only a workers helmet. that's even with my high beams on.
