One Headlight?

potato bug man cave? wtf svdave talking about mat3?

ive foudn them aruond my house(outside) quite a few times. took the last one out with brake cleaner and a lighter. i felt so awsome afterwards.

Exactly. You legally can't ride with both on at night, because then you are riding around blinding people with your brights.

My Speedy has two on all the time, from the factory, whether hi or lo beam.

I don't know about the 'legally' part... unless you have the hi-beams on.

My Suzuki sv 650s has both on at all times. I like the look of both on, although I guess I would adjust if my bike just ran one for low beam.

Hahah Hella thread jacked. :)

I feel like an idiot now, cause always assumed that both lights would be on and then a higher beam light would flip on kinda like a cars headlight.

The headlights i refer to are ones on newer bikes like an r6 or a f4i, anything with two headlamps.

Thanks for all the feedback though :)

I'm running a Buell headlight and whether I run high or low only one is on at a time.

more light = better for them to see you with

'07 Triumph Tiger: low beam = right side only :twofinger; high beam = both sides are on :boobies. In the daytime I drive with high beam on to increase light intensity and visibility of bike.

'07 Piaggio scooter: low beam = right side only ; high beam = left side only
Daytime I drive with high beam on. High beam = more intensity and on the side which is easier for on coming traffic to see :ride.

I've not had any one flash lights at me in the day time even though brights are on. Any one know if it's legal to run high beams in the day time :mm4l?

Turning off one of the low-beams means you have an extra 50 watts of power to run some extra heated grips, a vest, or a bagel toaster for your goldwing.

Not sure if this is the place to post it or not, but I'm gonna anyway:

Why do people ride around with 1 headlight out on their bikes? I never understood the reason for this cause i'd think you want to have both on for 2 reasons: 1, visibility (being able to see better with both headlights in the dark), and 2, visibility (others being able to see you during the day).

:wow?????:wow
This is officially the funniest thing I've read on BARF

It's always been this way with dual headlight bikes - one light is low and the other is high. Some (most?) faired sportbikes do this too, probably as kind of a carry-over from this convention.

I got the comment that my r6 was missing a headlight more than once already.

Yep. Many dual headlight bikes run both sides on low and both sides on high.

The problem with converting bikes that are set up as one side low beam and one side high beam is that often the reflectors on each side are different and you can't just stick a dual filament bulb in there and expect it to work correctly. Bummer.

on a regular buell, you can put the headlight switch in between high and low and get both headlights to stay on at the same time. i dont know if this will work for you but it works great for riding in dark areas at night.

You can do this on many bikes. But don't do it for long. Your bulb will get extremely hot really quick. If it's a standard H4, it will develop the same heat as a single 115 watt bulb will. (60w + 55w = 115w)

the low beam and high beam are separate bulbs in 2 different nacelles

I was sitting at a freeway off-ramp once and there was a bum with a sign. He waived to me, so I waived back. Then he motioned for me to flip my visor, only to tell me I had a head light out :laughing. Then I explained to him it was the high-beam and flicked it on and off a few times, and he had a big grin as he had learned something new that day :thumbup

well its good to see that people are still willing to humor daventura

I wish my bike didn't have the dual light set up with high and low on different sides... I ride so much, that I get people telling me I have a light out every couple of weeks.

Also, it's only guys who like to tell me this, so it's not even a piece of eye candy.

Maybe I'll just tell them they're ugly. Or I could be diplomatic and tell them their fly is open.

Yay I'm as smart as a homeless bum!
