PAGING BAD DAD

Look, it shouldn't be "BARF Extreme". I mean if you go and call some guy an asshole, and he's just making a valid point, then there should be consequences. If he IS being an asshole (and we know if someone's deserving of the name calling), then let it stand. I mean there are a fair amount of assholes on this site, but we can't call them as such under the TOS, so then we're just kind of lying to each other. Now, this is only for the KS that I speak of.

...

That's part of the problem Berto, I might feel that somene is being an asshole when you think it's fine. From our conversations you know I support many of the things you are talking about but I think allowing a 'fuck you' or 'your an asshole' here but not there creates more confusion and really doesn't help anything.

No one remembers BARF Extreme? :facepalm

No one liked or trusted that guy, so why would that forum take off?

Do you remember when people got pissed off at the over moderation of barf and SBR took off? Barf lost a lot of great members when that happened, a lot of them older experienced guys that were a very good influence when they were active on barf. These are guys that host great rides, and are great help to the moto community. Barf would be much better off if SBR wouldn't have happened.

Lately I see people lot of people tuning out of barf to go play on facebook. Another great loss to barf. Instead of meets/rides/parties/pictures being posted public here, its being posted private there. Thats a damn shame, and its plugging up my facebook, which I use to try and keep up with what my family and old friends are up to.

Running off the "bad boys" with over moderation is driving another wedge in the moto community and the result will be more separation. When you lose the bad boys, you will also lose many girls and cool peeps. Because they like to be where the action is.

People aren't going to post their fun shit in multiple places. They will choose the places they like best and the rest will lose out. Instead of having one great place where everyone is welcome to come hang out and share stuff. You will have a group saying fuck barf peeps, another saying fuck sbr peeps, another saying fuck facebook peeps, so on and so forth.

This is stupid, and its all because people get pissed off because of over moderation and leave, taking others with them. There is plenty of baiting and name calling here now, its just disguised to skirt the rules. Its turned into a sick game to get people banned that turns many people off.

I know you cant make everybody happy. But you can make everybody welcome. If you relaxed the rules, sure some flaming/name calling would happen from time to time. But there will be plenty of people around to stick up for what is right and put out fires when needed. Keep on the current path, and will be just more separation... which sucks for those of us who are friends with many groups.

PS- I know I'm wasting my words, this will fall on deaf ears. Business will continue as usual and people will say: if you don't like the way it is, go someplace else... and so the wheel turns.

Funny, when people discuss an "Adult" section I imagine a grown up and mature place where people interact with respect and polite conversation. Kind of like a library or a university classroom.

Others think acting "Adult" means access to all the porn you want and the ability to curse at each, fling poo and degrade ourselves with impunity. Kind of like if you put a chimpanzee cage in the back of the video store where they keep all the x-rated videos.

Is the latter entertaining? Well sure, for a while, but I believe we've already mentioned BARF XTREME!!!11!! in this thread. How about giving the former a chance?

I think you and I hold different definitions of adult. I BARF from work mostly and porn would be a bad thing to have pop up. But personal attacks, flaming, bating, etc. can be controlled by the individual. i.e. ignore list.

If someone is being an asshole in the KS, the KS collective should be able to say: "You're being an asshole."

If you want respect and polite conversation - Join a mormon forum.

This is the part that gets me the most...it's so obvious, but for some reason people want to stick by the TOS, and not just getting rid of obvious troublemakers.

The rules make sense on paper, but in reality, they just aren't as useful as telling the jerks to get lost.

Is there ever discussion amongs the mods of at least PMing the people who's posts are 98% bait or trolling to cut it out? I've been pinged in threads where I was doing it...and deserved to get my knuckles rapped for it...but some people seem to get away with a lot, all the time. What gives? Sure maybe nobody reported them...So? It's still plain as day that they are bringing the place down.

People loved the concept. In practice it was a disaster that lasted what, 48 hours? I don't think the "owner" had much to do with its failure.

I think the people who call SBR home found what they needed there, and there is more than enough room for both forums on the internet. I think SBR is great, it is just not for me. Personal choices and all that.

Lately I see people lot of people tuning out of barf to go play on facebook. Another great loss to barf. Instead of meets/rides/parties/pictures being posted public here, its being posted private there.

That's funny, because for all the complaining I hear, I never once hear an acknowledgment that they met on BARF. For a lot of these "friends", if not for BARF, their "friendships" would not exist.

Frank, it sounds like you basically have a gripe because you can't have all the people you like at the same party at the same time.

People aren't going to post their fun shit in multiple places. They will choose the places they like best and the rest will lose out. I think your disapproval, disappointment or issue, is mislaid. I don't see how moderation has anything to do with it. I see it more as personal choices. You can't have individuals all liking the same thing.

I disagree. I don't think it is a sick game to get people banned. I think it is a game the members play to skirt the rules.

But you can make everybody welcome.

I think everyone IS welcome. Please refer me to any instance where the BARF administration has NOT made someone welcome. (aside from spammers)

PS- I know I'm wasting my words, this will fall on deaf ears. Business will continue as usual and people will say: if you don't like the way it is, go someplace else... and so the wheel turns.

Although it has been said by mods (who are also members and entitled to their personal opinions) on occasion, the love it or leave it thing is not an official BARF statement. We say, welcome, here it is, here are some simple rules, have a good time.

And Frank, no matter what you've heard, we do listen, we do care, and we do evolve.

I don't know Marco but a guy who ends all his posts with "Love" is probably a cool person. I can say without a doubt Barf is better with guys like him around.:)

You'd be surprised. We all (you and me both) have our own personal lists of trouble makers that we feel are detrimental to BARF health. The mods have never compared notes, but I have a feeling that although there is some overlap, the makeup of our lists would vary immensely. If we (the mods) were to each pick 5 members that we felt should get the boot, we'd probably end up with a crazy long list. Besides, that would never happen.

Some people make it a habit of skirting the TOS masterfully while others who are less calculating become victims to their emotions. In that sense, occasionally, I consider the TOS to have failed. However, this is also not lost on us, and we are aware that under the lens of fairness. We may, on occasion be doing the member a disservice, and we try to make things right. We usually do that by letting the "manipulator" clearly hang themselves later.

We are also well aware that we are under your (the membership's) scrutiny at all times, so we have to balance, consistency, objectivity and fairness in each decision we make.
