PAGING BAD DAD

I completely disagree, and herein lies the problem ...

There has got to be boundaries. As romantic an idea that anarchy is to the two wheel culture in particular, the reality is, it probably will suck ( as BARF EXTREME proved on a minute level). People left to their own devices will always fuck it up one way or another and burn each other out, as plenty have also proved on BARF time and time again.

I have no problem with the boundaries here but I can see why others do. Is there a compromise? I really don't think so. It is human nature to stretch boundaries. At what point do you really draw a line? I already think that the rules here are already on a sliding scale to give people 1,2,3,4,5,6 chances.

Several people have clearly drawn lines. However, to imply that the "great matter" of the hour in the KS is an indication of BARF's impending doom and non existence is probably benign. There's hundreds , maybe thousands of barfrers in the GENERAL SECTION right now that have no clue what we're talking about or don't care. Yet their experience is still positive.

Good points made here.

I agree with you, but I just can't put a finger on what. It's not something foreign to the mod core either as discussions do come up about this type of issue, but it always seems like there's just not a good way to handle it that satisfies everyone's needs.

I'm more towards the anarchy side than the control side, but that's shown to be just as disastrous at times. The truth is, the moderator core struggles with keeping the site as free and open as can be and not letting the garbage get in the way of a quality site. Of course, a site that's largely populated with content manufactured at the instant of thought conception multiplied by the anonymity of the Internet brings about some pretty shitty situations.
We see it all the time. Someone should be allowed to tell someone they're an asshole if they're being an asshole. It's true, it shouldn't be hidden.

On the other hand, telling someone "fuck you" is fighting words and that shit doesn't need to be here. If you wouldn't say it in a starbucks line without being willing to fight about it, then leave it be I say. If you are willing to fight about it, then say it on Facebook...cause fighting over what others say on the net in a forum is petty.

I too wish some of the more colorful personalities and interactions were allowed on BARF at least in the KS. I think we had more honest, and better discussions then...and I made more friends that way. It wasn't the disaster that some remember

Good points here also.

Because sometimes telling someone to "shut the fuck up" just feels a whole lot better than "we'll have to agree to disagree." :p

Agreed - Even if it is fighting words. Sometimes the best thing two people who don't like each other can do is have a fight.

I only have one rule that god forbid, I ever break...

NEVER PISS OFF TRAQ, for fear of getting "FEANOR'D" :twofinger

Caveat my memory might be faulty, but in the 6 years I've been here I'd say this is the third time that this discussion has come to a head.

To a certain extent it's up to the veteran barfers to keep the tone below a boil: there will always be someone new comin' through shakin' up the party.
I think there's ways to say things "colorfully" while not using course language, but ultimately it's not the language that causes problems it's the personal attacks.
I'd just like to add that FgTmOdZ are festering sores on a goat's vagina.

It's against the rules to tell someone to shut the fuck up??

not that anyone cares, or maybe some do, who knows, im gonna explain why n what i think is lame.

its simply this, i dont know barf, ive been a "member" for a very short time. since i first became a member i was beyond excited to have a "place" where i can ask legitimate questions {at least in my mind} n get honest feedback. a place where i can possibly meet up with people n ride n learn from. now we all know i didnt start off too well on here, but of the handfull of people on here that have always been decent n somewhat pleasant to me, BAD DAD was at the front. a faceless list of typed words on a screen that felt like a familiar/friendly face in a crowd of strangers. and now for WHATEVER REASON that face is gone, {wether by his choice or not}.

THATS WHAT IS FUCKIN LAME!!!!!

but in no way am i pointing the finger at anyone, especially if BAD DAD "pulled his own plug"...{please no masturbation jokes on the 'pulled his own plug' line, haha} it jus sucks that a person that seemed "genuine" like BAD DAD was so unhappy about things on here that it made him want to leave. and ill be the first to agree with the logic of..."if you dont like the show, then change the channel". but to me its still fuckin lame!

Thanks for responding Droopy.

Please allow me to ask a couple rhetorical questions:

You are new here, yet you feel free to pass judgment on events that you don't know much about, and openly criticize the management.
Q: How would that fly, if you did that when first joining in a "gang" ?

Have you mistaken barf's kindness for weakness ?

Dude... let it go. :rolleyes

it can all be attributed to a dramatic drop in barometric pressure. always happens when a storm approaches. under-appreciated scientific fact. harbinger = wind blowing. coincidence? i think not.

Wow absolutely unexpected from you!!!
Personal observation: I see no passing of judgment just a comment on perceived loss.
Recalling past history of this user bringing up "gang" really comes off as baiting.
Wow, freeaking, mother freaking WOW!

Personal observation: It's really not baiting as much as it is being relevant as a point to an analogy.

You are mistaken. And mocking her by saying "personal observation" again is also baiting. :teeth

I personally believe that we all all a bit more on the correct side than not especially regarding our own personal distorted opinion for it is ours and ours alone.
Others however are mostly incorrect and mean spirited.
There are some that are not as kind as they believe themselves to be and it is those individuals with who(m) i have a bit of sympathy not to be confused as empathy.
Lastly, I enjoyed the arguments/discussions that Berto and I had back then in the days of old but since Robert R-1 has broken off his relationship it seems all went down the road of doldrums.

Could be, or how dare he pass judgment and criticize management. He should only be seen lurking in the shadows of the Test Board making his worthless post where no one will read them while waiting his time to be allowed, when invited, a post of his very own, in General or Kitchen Sink. He’s a newbie, HE KNOWS NOTHING.

Therefore what you said, what HH said, this ^ or something in between.

I've met Scarlett in meatspace and she's a cool gal and I look forward to interacting with her again here or in person, trust me, I'm not mocking anyone. If my comments are taken as baiting because it is a difference from her opinion then that would be dissapointing.

Frankly, if we are still at the point of debating what is baiting and what is not at this point of the conversation, then I really am at a loss for words and will be taking myself and my opinions out of the equation.

I'm not out to prove that my views are the right way. I'm simply stating them. You make your own call.

I've met Miss HH in meat space too. She's a neat gal. She even told me I was too hard on the beaver today. But I still :love her :teeth

Let me get this right,

You want to hold me accountable, for my post ?

Good...that's what we should do, and I have no problem with that. I DO, however, have a problem with those who refuse to be held accountable. So far, Droopy has been willing. Baiting ? for trying to understand someone's viewpoint ? wow, your eagerness to expect the worst of me, and pitch me out the door is (not)heartwarming.

Mr Droopy has openly referred to past experiences with gangs, I have zero experience with them. I DO have other experiences with large groups of people, and I suspect there's not a whole lot of difference. In my experience, generally noobs have to earn trust and respect, before they are given much credence, attention, or trust.

Personally, I don't find Marco's actions lame. I don't find Budman lame either.

In addition, I don't understand the blind trust folks are willing to dispense, just as quickly (if not more ) as they are willing to toss known friends to the sharks

No shark tossing going on. No throwing under buses, no lighting on fire.
Yes' on the accountable, we should all be held accountable for our behavior. Please reread the post, and hear it in a different voice. I don't believe that Marco, Budman, or BARF are being called lame. I think it's just a I get to come back and the world has changed and the hand I most wanted to shake has left the building "that's lame" kind of comment.
Now PG, about those sharks ... you are coming out this year I hope.

that'a a good point.

However, let me tell you where I am coming from. When I first joined the board, I lurked for a bit and tried to get a feel for the place. I also tried connecting in meatspace, went to a couple of meets and rides, eventually track days, parties, races, social stuff. In this process I met people in meatspace and really got to know them. In short, I tried to build some history and still doing so.

There are a lot of vets that get away with being outrageous and loud and Newer members thinking that this is how it is immediately come in with guns blazing. That's really not how it should work, in meatspace or in any social interaction. You got to build history, you gotta pay your dues.

BARF is a playground but you got to get to know the kids in the sandbox a little bit before coming in strong. There's a process. Again, this is my opinion.
