Practical tips for rapture day

Yes, but you still ridicule them.

But then I was also speaking to the larger issue of people who don't believe in God commenting on and making fun of those that do.

Seriously, what affect does it have on you other than what you let it?

well as long as they keep it to themselves...nothing at all. and for the most part other peoples beliefs arent anything I concern myself with anywa.

but of course may always want to go further with it than that, and use false belief to run the lives of others...

...my mother is a devout christian, teaches sunday school and all that jazz, and has never once tried to push her beliefs on me in any way. if more were like that, the people who get riled up over religion wouldnt get so riled up

but you must keep in mind, that to many non believers, hearing someone say they bleiev in god is one of the most ridiculous things out there. its like someone telling you, they believe in the tooth fairy, an imaginary friend, zeus or wahtever, and literally base their lives around that belief. it sounds utterly preposterous

yea i saw that sign about a week ago and was like "uh, thats pretty soon...if these guys are wrong, they are gonna look REALLY stupid, REALLY soon!" :laughing

and if they are right; well my track day is before then, so i'm all good :teeth

this is the big elephant in our national debate. as far as I'm concerned, everyone who believes in the god/jesus/mohamed/sausage creature/ et al, is delusional. and many in our government profess a belief in this nonsense, ergo they are delusional and have no business what so ever making decisions that effect the future of this country and planet. Who is it hurting? every fucking citizen in this country and the world. god is not going to save us, jesus isn't coming, there is no fucking miracle that going to turn it around for us. we are going to either find the solutions, or we are going to cease to exist as a species. and this continuous ignorant chant of; the lord works in mysterious ways, god's will, etc etc. does nothing but exacerbate the already tenuous grip we have on keeping the whole thing from falling off the cliff. because of xtians and their ilk, we have draconian laws against non-violent victimless "crimes", because the "good folk" can't abide prostitution or some kid smoking a joint. And that's just at a small level. Allowing people who think there is some magical, invisible being in the sky that's looking down on us, judging us, making a list and checking it twice, make decisions that in essence direct the future of humanity is fucking absurd. And yet, we have it. How much effect does it have? Just look around, it has plenty. I don't need a god to have a moral conscious, and neither do the rest of the hairless monkeys on this rock. religion does nothing but strangle humanity's ability to relate to reality with clear thought and rational process.

eh, there's probably someone behind this who is either totally crazy... or more likely making a tidy profit by being a 'prophet'.

how about some old delusional engineer from Oaklamd

The people I feel sorry for, are the ones affected by the prejudice, fear and hate.

I am sure teh people of BARF have suggestions for how to arrange a sure stay?

It may sound preposterous and it may even be absolutely preposterous.......but so what? Many people believe that motorcycles are death traps. Totally preposterous belief, but so what if they believe that? It has no effect on me, I know what I know and what you think you know means nothing to me.

So, if someone says they believe in God, so what? You know what you know so how does what they believe effect you?

fwiw, this is the 3rd time a date was given of jesus returning...

the great disappointment of 1843 & 1844...

Was talking to a guy at work who is into this and it is a huge earthquake prediction according to him.
Austrailia/New Zealand and Hawaii are the starting points. Spreading Globally.
He is spending the 20th praying.

I will be stocking the cooler with Dos Equis and ice. Dry rubbing teh meat. And in general , getting ready to BBQ on the 21st. If I am going out , it is going to be well fed and buzzed.

:|

i've heard stranger things such as UFO's revealing themselves on this date...

I ust got a new Zombie gun and bunch of ammo because of this. I'll be VERY upset if I wasted my money. :x

Well, for God's sake, if you take off to meet the rapture in a group, don't split off from the rest without checking in. :p

we're gonna keep seeing and hearing wacky stuff until 2012 from all walks of life....

A Miracle.

The guy I talked to said that if nothing happens , It is just God's way of doing things.Kind of like how he saves some people from a tornado and others are not so fortunate.
The sad part of all this is that this fellow was always very cheerful, but is definitely showing signs of strain now. I wonder how many others have this added stress thrown into their lives. All because of some funky interpretation of the bible?

To me, your analogy is like comparing apples and water buffalo; they have almost nothing in common.

Look around and truly reflect on how much of your everyday existence is influenced by general society's belief in a benevolent, involved, supreme being.

I agree with this 100%!

I for one am ok with others ridiculing me for my beliefs, but I'm against being burned at the stake for my beliefs.
