Purchased my first bottle of Scotch! (extreme whisky thread)

Jason, try this link. I doubt they have this site blocked (and this is where I buy most of my whisky these days)

Actually, in Oakland, there are cool conversations about assholes in SF all dressed in black and taking themselves way too seriously.:laughing:laughing

Oh dear lord, you don't think I ever take anything seriously, do you?

Yeah
the re label stuff is usually relabeled for a reason

scotland is how big? They won't drink any of it or put their name on it it must not be very good.

I tried some Kirkland brand that was vomitous

I read a while back that the Kirkland 40YO stuff was Macallan - batches that were destined for sale to the blended part of the industry. In other words - not good enough to carry the Macallan name. Kirkland bought it and put it in barrels for aging. I've not had the opportunity to try it yet.

So like I said the smokey thing was gross for me, what should I ask for next time? Still wanna try something.

While there are some Scotches out there with interesting honey and flower notes to get your flavor rolling, if you really do not like smoke, Scotch is not your drink. I would suggest you try and do Rum for a while. It goes with everything, is not terrinbly expensive and has a fascinating realm of complexity. I would suggest you start with Kraken. I really like the vanilla spice character of it and I like to drink booze named after mythological monsters. You want dark rum for flavor. Light rum is esentially the same sort of lighter fluid that vodka is.
