While there are some Scotches out there with interesting honey and flower notes to get your flavor rolling, if you really do not like smoke, Scotch is not your drink.
I respectfully disagree. I've had a few that I wouldn't consider smokey. I'm not a fan of the smoke flavor either.
There are very few that are smokeless. Typically varies from the greasiest if islays to the frutiest of speysides, but some smoke is usually present in anything decent.
Saying, "I don't want smoke," is like saying, "I prefer my wine to be sweet." If he doesn't like smoke, he probably just doesn't like Scotch.

True, there's still a hint of smokiness present, but it's not overwhelmingly peety like some scotches are.
Aye. I let it go the first few times, but others have mentioned it and no corrections were made. Just thought I would drive home the point a bit.![]()

Yeah, but you see what I'm saying? There are other beverages out there that may be better suited to someone who doesn't want smoke.
Rum and Tequila as previously suggested might be good choices. I, for example really wanted to like absinthe when it started coming back into vogue in the last 10 years or so. I tried a couple, know that I fucking hate all things anise, and realized I am just not an absinthe guy.![]()

I've never really got into rum too much. Still need to go down that road.
hey it's better than listening to some horseshit about how scotch doesn't need to have smoke.
You must love that asswater known as Laphroaig. Disgusting, you can have it all.
