I don't understand were kestrel is coming from, first he say's a 250 is all the bike you will ever need. Now all the sudden nothing less then a bandit 1250 will do what's up with that.

Neither did I. I dont have a liter bike, but I can imagine right hand control being key, esp on the street

I just went from an 07 600RR to an 08 1000RR and, surprisingly, the liter bike is easier to ride on the street and way more newb friendly, because it has solid torque down lown and the fuel injection is totally flawless. It is very, very easy to ride this bike at a moderate pace. There is no huge throttle jump anywhere. Of course, if you want to go seriously fast, you can, but you can easily motor around without it being intimidating.

If one can control the urge to go nuts, the 08 1000RR is actually a very easy bike to ride and very newb friendly.

All the bike you'll ever need? Heavens no. On the right road, it's a joy. On others - it's far from that and there are better tools for the job. I'm merely championing the value of torque in an urban environment where the opportunities to spin up an I4 style engine are far and few between.

You're not looking very hard, then. If you found any sportbike shootout you'd find the 600RR is judged the better all around bike (especially on the street) and easier to ride on the track.

That's not helping since the only reason I was looking at the R6/600rr was to try and not spend the extra $4k and get the 848 ;)

Comments like that are just going to make say f*** it and get the Duc :teeth

"The Honda is such a polished machine that it can seem a bit boring. It doesn't really make much noise and although the controls have elevated amounts of feedback, the bike really never does anything that unique," points out Waheed. -motorcycle-usa.com

That's why girls go for the bad boys! Sure they can go for the nice, well mannered guys, but they don't. A little unpredictability is exciting!...which is why I'm single :cry

The 600rr is a solid bike and works on the street. A few things I don't like about riding it on the street:

Cooling has become an issue these past few days, I have seen on several occasions where I'm stuck at a light and it will bump to the 220's quite fast.....gotta pray for the light to change at that point

The power comes pretty fast at you which is fine, but not the greatest for those slow tight turns that you sometimes have to make cause the dude behind you is going to stop at the last second.

Comfort is actually really good except for the stock seat which starts to hurt after like an hour of riding, but still a nice position.

Overall, I wouldn't say this is an awesome bike for the street/city. I liked my ex500 better on the street and I think it did a better job. The 600 should do well at the track and once I started riding it more it just felt like I needed to take it to the track and get off the street with it. Like I said, its fine on the street..........but that's not its natural habitat :) So, once the ex500 is back together I'll probably just end up putting the 600 on the track..........probably.....

I have to quote this one... That's specifically the one I like that caught my eye in the R6 arena. I suppose having bought the Buell that I own, I really like the "hidden" exhaust which is why I have such a hardon for the under-the-seat look of the R1/600RR. On top of that, the first bike I got a good look at was my friends 748. Again, not helping with my hidden exhaust fetish :p

I'd love to get that exact R6, but with this guys exhaust.

Want to see that bike in action?
