Rider Longevity

Is the term "religious issue" another way of saying "recurring pattern" or am I missing something?

The bandwagon is skrong...

Anyway, I get you Lou.
The point about Lou's commentary is that you should be focusing 100% on what is in your control. If you are doing that and your card gets pulled, o'well right?

However, a good number of riders aren't doing that...

.. and it's a disservice to everyone to act like they are.

That wasn't his point Unirr. Specially considering who he replied to. Context, it's important.

This thread turned out to be much more useful than I had expected...great responses all the way around, many decades and miles of experience represented here. I've read every word and the links and am giving all the advice lots of reflection. THANKS!

"Other" includes 9 categories. Sideswipe is 2.8% and actually should have been shown separately. More than half of those are the rider's fault.

The rest are no greater than 1.3% each: rearendEE (motorcycle hit from behind), cut-off, debris, critter (2 deer, 1 dog, 1 cow), fixed obstacle (e.g. Muni boarding island), mechanical, other (e.g. passenger fell from bike), and unknown (I couldn't figure out what happened from DOT database and news reports).

Thanks - it's awesome to have someone who does all this research :thumbup

But this is the sort of thing that I think of when people say motorcycles are "SO DANGEROUS". Most of the accidents here are clearly related to the rider choosing a poor place to go fast. That's not to say you can't go fast on the street or do silly things, but it's that they made bad decisions about where they chose to do it.

Luck comes into the equation with the risks you choose not to mitigate personally - I ride in a fashion that allows me ot mitigate the majority of the risks and accept the rest, and that's where I hope I'm lucky. But I don't need to rely on that, because I have a massive stack of strategies I use to try and avoid the big categories here.

You are always right... they should have been home in bed. :thumbdown

You have a religious issue Lou. I am getting tired of your poor taste, overblown ego and self righteousness.

Probably the most insecure person I've ever seen on any motorcycle forum. I find him to be a sad, sad person with no interpersonal skills whatsoever.

I sometimes ride with a friend that has beaten Kenny Roberts in his prime on the dirt track, he is as humble as can be and doesn't talk down to anyone. I doubt Lou has ever lined up for a race. We all make mistakes...except sadlou, of course.

I think the word you were searching for was mental, rather than religious...

*added some more users to my ignore list .. The personal attacks are really childish and I'm really getting tired of them.
Ridiculously, the people who engage in them are the ones who often contribute least to a particular thread.

Hmmmm...

Motorcycle God. His own religion.

I like Lou. He has skills and experience. His view that can overcome all is just wrong.
And is something our users should know is not realistic. It helps .... No doubt, but he has taken it to a level only a cult can appreciate.

I agree 100%. However .....He believes no matter what a rider should be able to escape bad luck, fate or anothers lack of attention. I think you acknowledged what I am saying in your last take yes??

Simple truth is we can get taken out and no matter how good your are your time being healthy is going to be affected.

whereas i, being unfettered with moto brio and ego like you and the lou haters, just see it as the dudes way of saying 'even if you are paying enough attention, you aren't paying enough, so pay some more' , which is most definitely a good message, but you jocks just stay calm, and hate on hatin' on :twofinger

Truth. But he is slapping people unecessarily ......and being an Assmo.
:laughing

Such messages don't translate well.

His post after Archimedis post was in bad taste. Very bad considering his no fault accident and decades of experience. That broke this camels back.

To be clear. I like Lou. I respect Lou's decades of experience and superior skill set

I do not appreciate his continuing holier than thou attitude. It is disrespectful too often and many times just wrong.

i didn't read it as talking smack at archie, but i don't see the subtle nuances of barf general interaction as clearly as the regulars :laughing

^this .. the meat-wagon came in in full force with a misinterpretation of Lou's words.. A good reason I have the majority of them on my ignore list. I can't stand ignorant band-wagon responses...
People don't know how to use their own heads before jumping on some populist wagon of idiocy.
