Riding and Crabbing at Pacifica Pier 11/6 Sunday with a Crab Feed afterwards

No but I don't like parking my motorcycle where the salt spray is absolutely HORRIBLE. Spray that bike down ASAP the moment you get away from pacifica.

Which reminds me........I need to wash my duc more often after my rides down highway 1 and to the pier in santa cruz.

I use cat food all the time to catch fish in minnow traps.

I'm a fisheries biologist.

Cat food will work and I am quite sure dog food will work too.

Might work, but will it work as well?

Just picked up a 1 piece rain suit...Think I'm riding no matter what! Is that a terrible idea lol someone tell me now
I'm a new rider, probably newer than you. The things I dislike about riding in the rain: wet jeans, foggy helmet/glasses, poor drivers, and slippery roads. I have no other vehicle, so I'll have to ride in the rain when necessary.

Today, on my way back from work, I was making a left turn at a traffic light and one of my tires slipped. My front dipped, my rear dipped after, and I was barely able to regain control. Fucking rain :mad

If you're a new rider, then I wouldn't ride. Too early in the rain season and the grease and oil is barely coming out of the surface. Especially around the bay area with its huge numbers of cars in such a tight confined area and plenty of daily slow stop and go traffic.

Personally I LOVE riding in the rain, hail, snow, sleet but I've also been a licensed rider for over 10 years and spent a good portion of that time riding around Colorado at all times of the year. I was a nut job though, my favorite thing was riding wheelies in the rain because most riders are worried about traction and scared of the rain.

Where are you coming from specifically? I'm sure we can all figure out something like picking you up from the bart or ferry etc

Since Violet agrees with the stupidity of dog food as bait, challenge accepted. :twofinger

:shocker whoa! I didn't say it was stupid! Quit trying to stoke the fire dude! I simply said...I'd be really suprised if weasel caught one using dog food :laughing. I also praised him for thinking outside of the box. Dianotec..you kill me :rofl

:dunno Just callin' it like I see it. Next thing you know, he'll want to use imitation crab as bait :twofinger

and as much as I'm thankful for these offers of a ride, you guys are putting my manhood on the line here. I don't need a bunch of women offering me the easy way out while another guy is toughening it out in the rain. I'll be there unless I'm on the side of the road :x

Might hit up Cyclegear so I don't have to wear soaked jeans though.

I'm in. If I could find a way to get my 8' surf casting rod + tackle + chair + cooler on my bike, I'd ride. As it is I'm taking my pickup.

Oh dear...
Pls be safe.. and that goes for all of you that are riding to the crab feed. I sincerely apologize for the tricky weather.

For those of you attending and would like a spotter in case anything happens.. please PM me. We can exchange information to ensure your safety.

:mag may the force be with all of you braving the rain.

Quit trying to stoke the fire dude!

He's stoking the fire so he has a way to dry his jeans out after riding in the rain........or after someone tosses him in the ocean for calling it how he sees it one too many times....... :laughing

:laughing I love the way he plays devil's advocate..
Speaking of fires.. I'm really bummed that it's going to rain as I was planning on us hanging out in the backyard and making smores with my little firepit in the backyard for dessert.. thats been kuuu-boshed. :thumbdown

Been reading this thread 'cause it's so entertaining... :laughing ... sounds like y'all will have a great time! :thumbup

Only a 50% chance of rain predicted currently for Pacifica on Sunday, and it's supposed to clear up in the afternoon/evening. So don't give up on those smores yet!

Oh man, scary time to get tossed off the pier with the whites in for feeding season.

There was a fight between a BIG dude and little dude on the pier once over either crabbing or stripper fishing. Pretty much, little guy got thrown over and had to swim the LONG way back to shore.

You know, I hate acting like I know everything.

BUT if you filter through the last thread, you'll realize I recommended we do this Saturday. Guess what... it's not raining today... :twofinger

Only jokes though. Thanks for hosting this Violet, will see you all there Sunday. Don't mind the rain as long as my jeans don't get soaked and the wind doesn't blow me over.

And a couple side notes:
If I see two people, blind dates to be exact, flirting all day, I'm going to vomit in my mouth and on the crabs we catch.

and I'm going to raid the pet store and see what weird foods I can bring, as well as some imitation crab. Let's see what we can catch :party

One has to be careful not to catch crabs while stripper fishing. I'm guessing that a brass pole is most effective for this type of angling? :teeth

Sounds like a ton of fun. I really wish I could make something like this. I just happen to love seafood and crab is up pretty high in my list.

ninja_girl, any plans for future 'Riding and Crabbing' events?
