RIP Marco Simoncelli

I never need to see that accident scene again. Wish it wasn't part of the results when reading articles about him.

I flew down from Thailand down to Sepang for Moto GP and stayed at Nilai hotel near the race track. Some of the 125cc and Moto 2 riders were staying there. After Saturday's qualifying round, we noticed a lot of banged up riders in the buffet. One guy had his chin and eye bandaged, another guy in a wheel chair with bruises on his arms and legs. Just seemed like a lot of hard accidents. Not sure why so many accidents.
Then on Sunday to see Marco advertise his new website. I thought, I need to check that out after the races.
Unfortunately we had we had a real good view of the accident from the grandstand. Then they showed the reply over and over on the big screen. The dumb announcers at the track seemed to be the only ones that didn't think this was serious.
Even though I didn't want to say it or admit it to anyone around, I think we all knew the outcome. I don't even want to talk about the image I have in my head from that day.
Some people were upset they cancelled the race, by throwing trash onto the track. Real classy Malaysia.:thumbdown After we had an idea that he might be gone, there was no way we wanted to see anymore racing. I just wanted to leave. Now will always have bad impression of Malaysia and Sepeng for several reasons.

RIP Marco.

Wreckingball riding caused his death? Competitors relieved? Classy post karlitos. At least you waited a whole day... :thumbdown

And every report I read said it was due to critical injuries to the chest, neck and head.

Certainly this could happen to any racer and we have unfortunatly seen it last year. However, the greater number of times you crash (especially in the first few corners) the greater the probability of getting seriously injured (by other riders as well). How many times has he crashed and (aside) DNF during a race???

Has not Marco had been warned time and time again by just about everybody there is - including fellow riders not only in private, but also in public? Yet, he would just arrogantly brush it off as nonsense regardless of who would say it. Needless to say, Marco had also been (rightly) critized for crashing or nearly crashing in the first lap and not as an isolated incident (just about everybody in GP has done so at least once).

YET once again Marco crashed in the first lap and rather than being ANOTHER boneheaded move in which he would simly return to the pits in shame and (perhaps) apologize to his fans.. and maybe having to put up hearing that "[marco] only has hair on his head".... (D. Pedrosa) instead due to bad luck, luck running out or whatever... it has resulted in this needless tradegy.

Thus, how many crashes, taking out other riders etc would have "required" a change of..... or perhaps you think that it is all just fine and dandy and should have continued with Marco's sucessful riding model???

This is a R.I.P. thread as clearly shown in the title. Voice your criticism elsewhere, karlitos.

Multiple people have requested that you stop ranting in this thread out of respect for Marco. Why are you unable to grasp the concept that this is not the thread for you to post your opinions of Marco's riding?

Stop. Now.

Sucks.

I have been going to Sepang since 2009 but we cancelled our flight to KL Friday due to the flooding here in Thailand (we have already lost our house in Nonthaburi :( ).

This is what you get in KL tho, crappy disrepectful fans, bad hotels/food and some of the worst taxis I have seen anywhere...this year we were only going to fly down on Sunday and come right back, don't even bother with KL anymore...but I don't think we will be going back.

2011 can not end soon enough...we are bout to loose it all this week in Thailand...just keeps getting worse.

RIP Marco, the one real bring star in MGP.

My ignore list just increased by one and is now up to 4.

I just wish the inanity and drivel wasn't visible when people quote it.

Sheesh.

Back on topic.

It comforts me to know he didn't feel any pain and he is still racing somewhere. Marco if we meet someday show me the good lines. Until then Rest in Peace Super Sic.

RIP Marco, was great watching you progress through the classes, shame this happened.

:rose

rothmans, my GF's parents live in Nonthaburi as well, sorry to hear about your situation :(
