RIP Marco Simoncelli

Simo was my favorite moto gp rider. Incredibly skilled despite being a giant. He was always one of the more entertaining riders. How many times have you been on the edge of your seat thanks to Marco for digging deep and finding impossible passing opportunities and making them stick.

Its a very sad day for me.

Also, probably shouldn't have put "rip" in the title... some of us might not have seen what happened yet. Just sayin'

A very sad Sunday, too soon after the last one....

Godspeed Marco, your passion, your talent, your style, & your hair will be missed.

He was fun to watch race, reminded me of Schwantz in some ways.

The fans will miss him.

I'm devastated for his family and friends.

Really, you're worried about "a spoiler"?

Considering MSN Homepage had it as a headline and the SPEED headline banner has been running it all morning during their NASCAR pre-race shows, I, for one, do not see the problem.

+1 on not giving a shit about a race result warning spoiler.

RIP Sic :rose

In few other riders could the will to win, to fight and to succeed every second be as clearly seen as they were in Marco. He rode every corner like it was his last, and it's unbelievable and devastating for him to have truly reached it so soon.

So true, most others would be alive having let go of the bike long before the crash. It is amazing to watch someone fight so strong.

:rose Riposa in pace Marco

A sad day for the moto racing community.

The most sensational sport in the world lost one of it brightest young stars...my heart goes out to his family, friends and rivals. Super Sic was such a unique personality and talent. We are all losers in the fact we will not be able to watch in awe of his incredible skill and bravery on two wheels.

Amazing as these men are they are still human. The burden of the sport once again will come to the masses as insanity, because so few understand why anyone would take such chances with something as precious as life. Marco lived in fleeting moments of controlled lunacy where every moment is worth so much. Thanks for sharing that with us..

:rose 58 :rose

:rip

its still hard believe that he passed, the world has lost a great rider.

It's a shame and big hit to GP. He was a shining star that reinvigorated the premier class. I enjoyed watching his balz to the walls style and looked forward to see him next year.

Well said. It was odd seeing him slide away then come back across the track.

oh my god

this is soooo sad

:rip :rose

words fail me :(

My sons and I woke up this morning in a great mood! Jonas (my 5 year old) is a huge motorcycle racing fan.

I made the boys pancakes. They sat down at the table and enjoyed their pancakes as I started the race on the DVR..........

After the crash, my 5 year old turned to me and said, "Dad, I'm worried about Simoncelli........"

I stopped the race then jumped online and found out that Marco Simoncell was dead. I told my 5 year that he was gone. I had to try to describe what that meant. After a couple of minutes, Jonas looked at me and said, "I want to delete the race so I never have to see it again. I don't want Simoncell to be dead." We're both struggling with the emotions of seeing something so devastating as part of something that we get to enjoy together as father and son.

I'm so sorry for Marco's family and friends. I'm so sorry for all the MotoGP fans. I'm so sorry my 5 year old is confused and sad about losing one of his heroes.

I'm so sorry.
