RIP Rebecca

i think the courts are saying that his disregard for the law in previous cases constitutes the impulse to take another's life while driving under the influence. at least that's what i get from it.

The court established he knew drugs were bad (by his attendence in previous programs), so yes, his continued use of drugs, even though he knew better, represent enough malice for the murder charge & conviction.

I didn't know her either but still my condolences to her family and friends. Rebecca , Godspeed to ya & ride on in heaven.

I couldn't say it any better.

I also agree that he should not have been allowed to drive, with his record. We are far too lenient - and make getting a license in the first place far too easy.

Henderson was arrested after briefly leaving the scene to dispose of methamphetamine and cocaine he had with him, according to the district attorney's office.

Unforgivable. He knew he had killed someone, and his only thought was to protect his record and his driver's license.

The more I read or hear of stories like this, the more I'm for capital punishment; albeit that justice was better served on this occasion.

:rip Rebecca

Funny...I prefer to just not let my g/f leave the house for fear of getting killed by falling down the stairs at school. :rolleyes

In fact, she's safer sitting in a dark room, no lights (light can cause cancer!), nothing but a treadmill to maintain her trim physique. :laughing

Seriously, life is dangerous. Everyone dies. I could die from a drunk driver, a car crash, a whatever, and to limit someone you love because of circumstances that are out of your or her control is absurd.

our justice system is way too lenient on DUI's. It's taken a lot more seriously in other countries and as a result people's attitudes toward it aren't so blase.

I very much agreed. In fact, I feel that many such tragedies will not repeat itself if they had been seriously dealt with from the first DUI.

I feel sorry Rebecca wasted her life too young. RIP.

:rip

Perhaps we should send a note or flowers even to the Prosecutor.

R.I.P. :rose

Another rider passed because of a someone else's irresponsibility..

RIP Rebecca. I remember seeing this thread when it was originally posted. The bump scared the begeesus out of me though since I have a newbie rider friend in the south bay that's also a Rebecca. :|

Z3n: not to get off topic but...

1. I dont know any gurls that drive very well, and i know alot of gurls. and i quote from yesterday "I always hit cars while i talk on the phone."

2. Im hella overprotective. I know.

3. THiZZ IN PEACE Rebecca! This thread has really got me to think twice about ridin to the bar or ridin thizzed out, so thanks for the post whoever started it.

Yeah, i realized there that maybe i should have been a bit more clear:

Any person can ride a motorcycle, but some of them still shouldn't do it. That applies to girls as well...but i've known some very, very good female drivers and riders. I think anyone has the potential to be a good rider if they're willing to put the time in. My g/f is a good driver as long as she's not on the cell phone, so i'm a bit more comfortable with her on the bike than i am with her in a car. :laughing

Anyways, derail over :)

What happen is horrible and the POS drunk/drugged up driver should be sued then given the max in prison taking a 19 year olds life away and she was pretty. She was at her prime and taken away in an instant. RIP :rose

It may seem like alot but in retro spec MC deaths are about the same as every other year. Just more get posted and reported so people are informed about it. If you werent informed and they still occured does it make it any less then the year before. :cry

Not to thread hijack......

People should remember that punishment for crime is determined by the courts. The courts hand out punishments that the law requires. The laws are written, or changed, by politicans. We elect politicans that are like minded to our ideals and beliefs.

Bottom line...... change starts with us.

If we, society, wants stiffer punishments handed out for DUI drivers, esp multipule offenders, then we need to make the change.

Get active. Become a driving force in change. Contact your local reps and get them on board that we no longer will accept what is happening on our streets.
