RIP SWEEPING WINGER - ED

RIP, Ed.

An absolutely great guy who was part of my formative moto years. My first off-road ride was with him and Banjo boy on fish rock road. He helped me pick up my strom when i fell over whole dismounting. :laughing He also gave me a well deserved lecture on not doing stupid shit. But, he delivered it in such a way that it actually sank in. I could tell he truly cared that my riding career was a long one.

When the Weaverville rally started i was moved by his support and his presence. They say that the biggest part of success is showing up. He showed up, again and again, and was a really enjoyable part of BARF.

We've lost an esteemed elder in our community. I hope we can all emulate his kindness, his riding skills, and his love of life and community.

:rip Ed.

This one really hurts. 14+ years of silly and serious rally conversations. I'm going to miss his sly and sarcastic humor and genuine care and concern for fellow Barfers. Last chat was thru his car window as he was driving out of the hotel lot in Virginia City. Talking about how important the Barf community was to him and how much it helped while his wife was ill. Long may you ride, Ed. :rose

This, a million times this!

Rest in Peace Ed. Fair Winds and Following Seas. Thank you for your service in the US Navy and to our country. You will be missed.

oh no, sorry to hear this. RIP Ed :(

:rose :flag

I first met Ed a bunch of years ago on one of Bill's Birthday Rides (and a few successive rides). He was a true moto enthusiast.
Flying Hun's description of Ed is spot on!
"Here's what you need to know about Ed; he was a kind, thoughtful, humble, he had a great dry wit, he was a good friend, and he was one hell of a rider."

I'm going to miss sitting in the back of the bar with Ed and watching the Barf shenanigans and talking veteran's stuff with him. His dry humor, kindness and his quiet chuckling will be with me forever.

Unfortunately, I didn't find many photos of Ed, but he lives on in my heart.

One is at dinner during the first Redwood Curtain rally, and the other is up near Bucks Lake.

Budman...your words convey a true friendship and honor his memory. I’m sorry that BARF has lost such a beloved figure. May he RIP

While I didn't know him well I met him in Weaverville. It was great to see him all the time. You are missed Ed!

What can I say that hasn't already been said?
Ed was a staple at the HoHo rally, and always up for the long way round rides on Saturday.
He had no problem sweeping and keeping up with the 'fast guys', and always made sure no one got left behind.
I will miss talking with him and sharing stories about his many adventures thru life.
We'll have to hoist one for him in Weaverville, before or after we ice cream for HoHo.
See you on the back roads in the sky my friend. :rose
