Salt water reef tanks.

What place is that? Don't tell me it was 6th Ave. Those guys are really bad unless you know what you're doing and pick the right fish.

Ahaha. Looks like you know what you're doing and you picked the right fish.:laughing

I only go there if theres something I want really bad but nobody else carries it.

I just looked for the fish that were the fiestyiest. The damn clown took me like 5 min to catch he kept swimming past the net.

All the clowns I see there are icked out and swimming around really slow. Maybe they got a clean batch that was healthy. The clown I got right now is going really well. Going to get me a royal gramma and another 6 line and then call it quits on fish for this tank.

I'm about done for my big tank. Every day there is less and less algee in the tank and on the rocks. Before I put the fish in the tank had a ton of it from being run for so long with no fish. the rock bleeny and the hippo tang have been doing a number on it. Once I get some checks coming in from my new job I want to get a fu manchu lion for my 14gal tank.

^man..i had to google what a fu man chu lionfish...hot holy hell theyre nice lookin...

but since its a lionfish...poison..! ahaha how do you handle it? just use a net?

I was using a big specimen container(The clear plastic boxes the store hangs from the tanks) to transfer one when I was taking care of my dad's tank. I've been stung and it hurts like a mofo for a week and I had a mild headache for a few days or so but nothing you have to go to the doctor for.

^yeesh....i thought the symptoms couldve been worse...crazy man

it depends, it varies from person to person. If you are alergic to bee stings then yea you are in big trouble but if not. Then it will hurt like a s.o.b. but you will be ok.

I just found this thread...here are some pics of my nano

:wow freakin sweet tank man :thumbup

well one of the damsels I have is on its last leg. So I dumped it into the new tank that is cycling. I figure once it bites it, it will help the cycle stages move along faster.

I bought a pair of little 5 gallon starter tanks for my kids today, one in each bedroom. They're running now, the kids will get to pick out a couple fish tomorrow.

I'll be looking for a 55ish gallon tank to finally start saltwater for myself, too. I'll probably scour craigslist for awhile.

ha ha thanks for the compliments guys. Its been alot of work to get this little tank to the point it is at. Luckily there are good shops to get stuff around Roseville.

You will love it. 55 is a good size tank. There will be a few fish you can't pick up but most fish will do fine in it. Getting the tank set up and started is the hardest part. After is running it pretty much takes care of itself. Any idea what fish you want in it? Don't be to shocked to see how much live rock cost or sand for the tank.
If you can use this stuff. It works awesome and helps the tank cycle really fast

its called live aragonite

No idea, really. I'm just going to go with what I can manage in whatever size tank I end up with.

If you are planning on doing a reef I would advise against a 55. The dimensions of the tank are really bad for lighting and flow. I would recommend doing either a 50, 65, or 75 for similar sized tanks with much better dimensions. The depth of the tank from front to back just doesnt work well at all.

Factor5....got anything to trade?

What kind of dimensions should I look for?
