SCS rider hit by car--caught on video tape

From the looks of the video I would say he slammed his brakes on and he has drum brakes at the back, the problem with drums is they lock up and can cause the car to swerve just like happened here.

They should ban drum brakes in cars, there is no reason to have them these days apart from saving a few $$$

That jerk is a fucking asshole. I'm glad the downed rider is going to make it though.

that is one of the stupidist things I've ever heard.......the guy was steering to the right and was braking too hard while doing it.....it's called weight transfer oversteer and the simple laws of physics.....not to mention ANY non ABS brake system can lock up, not just drum brakes........why do you think Anti-Lock Brakes were invented? because of drum brakes.....?:hand

what I don't get is why he was steering right and why was this chick filming her commute looking ride?!?!?......almost seems staged.......

WOW! A Kobiashi Maru scenerio.

It looked like traffic was slowing in the fast lane, the guy over reacted, locked up tires, and spun out of control.

I'd say lack of maintenace of the brakes and the passenger side gripped more thant the driver side, perhaps air in the line?

Typical, I see this type of crap everyday and it doesn't surprise me.

I wish I could catch em effers like this in traffic, I'd AWP their faces...

I hope that if I ever get in an accident, god forbid, that the people around me are as cool as the people seemed to be in her accident.

I hope this rider recovers quickly, and gets a new bike.

Fuck the driver.

Okay- driver locked brakes AFTER making evasive manuever- meaning- as inertia has shown us- once moving in a direction, car continues to move in direction- that was 100% driver error- nothing to do with drum brakes or anything else- he cranked the wheel, then, after the car was already moving a new direction, locked the brakes- and the smoke comes more from the more traction-y side.

Any driver in Alaska will tell you what happens on slippery roads when you make that manuever-

Drum brakes are actually superior to disc brakes in power- but not in fade- discs cool quicker- drum brakes can provide more presssure than discs. but lack of cooling is what makes them 'fade"- if drums could dissapate heat like a disc- disc brakes would not even exist. With drums- you have one really good stop usually- the second time, you have complete fade- because the heat is still there.

My race car with 10 inch drum on front would hold better at the line than discs, and stop it okay before I ran out of track- but when I started going over 140, they started to fade because of heat buildup, and I went to hard core viper style and size discs- which barely held as well when "foot driving" at the light.

Okay- that is your lesson on brakes for today kiddies LOL

Okay- on other notes

1) I hope she is okay, and she nails that bastards balls to the wall for lying about the accident

2) Helper girl had a great rack! I am glad someone else noticed it first- because I din't want to say it first LOL

Wow that is a scary experience..i can't believe how the cop treated her afterwards, seems like a lot of poor judgement..

The cager driver can stick this up his A$$ :finger
If the cager don't PAY use this:sniper

Staged? Are you stupid or something? Who the heck stages something like that on the freeway with the chances of other cars running her over. The chances of losing an arm, leg, or even worse a life.

SCS is socalsportbikes. She's the admin there.

Sorry but I was just offended by the stupidest comment made.

nice rack first chick!

and poor girl hope shes cool

but damn nice rack!

Actualy this is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

well thats a pretty freak way of crashing. It would be difficult to avoid that because its so unexpected.

wow, staged comment =you idiot

boobs comment= come on guys

the fucking driver = DIPSHIT

he sure started skidding very easily? Something funny about his stopping, the skid smoked came from the rear tire and the car didn't DIP to the forward as it would, it almost looked as if the idiot pulled his parking break ? as that's how that car reacted

hm

very stimulating, I studied it alot but I'm sick, but fuck that driver X10. Look how seemingly he was the entire time, FUCKING asshole

I hope the girl is ok and gets some $$ from that. :thumbup for recording the commute

with front wheel breaks, the car's front would slide before the back, no Anti Lock as the skid is constant

soo interesting, am I missing something??

god If it was legal, I would have popped that mother fucker so hard if I were her

dued should have got a fucking bloody nose for that
