Skyrim

Pretty sure I'm at 85 now, so tonight should take care of it.

anybody roll with a companion other than Lydia?

I'm hanging with Aranea Ienieth from Azura's temple. She's got some potent magic... I haven't played in a couple of days though...

No but as soon as shit gets tough I'm picking up that mage in Riften.

I'm kind of loyal to Lydia. This is why...

I sneak down to Uttering Hills cave from the mountain, and shank the lone bandit guarding the cave entrance. I unseak and proceed to loot the camp around the cave entrance, as I'm all alone. Then I hear a bandit saying he's gonna kill me. He must have come out of the cave. I expect Lydia to be AI-path-finding down the mountain so I have to take on the bandit with my dagger. I turn to locate him, just in time to see Lydia running at him full speed with her ebony sword, and she takes one massive swipe for a one-hit kill.

i went back to collect a few trinkets for the thieves guild (unique objects that the guild will buy from you). i collect em, get the quest to return em to the guild. get to the guild and the misc quest for it vanished, even though i still have the items in my inventory. drop em and pick em back up, no luck. lame

Ok, how the fuck do you make lydia wear what you give her? I've given her light armor, heavy armor, shield + 1h, 2h, and it seems like the only thing I can MAKE her wear is the helmet. Gave her a full set of Elven light armor and the only thing she put on was the helmet. Gave her a 2h dwarven battle axe and a 2h dwarven warhammer that did 2 pts more in damage, and she only uses the battle axe. Gave her a dwarven mace + elven shield, took the 2h weapons back from her, and she still pulls out her old POS wooden shield. WTF?

edit - she DID at least put on the amulet I gave her. At any rate, I'm gonna go get that fistfighting bitch in the 1st town now...having a tank to soak up damage will help me level my casting + archery. Bound bow = high damage, 0 weight, infinite arrows :teeth

edit #2 - WTF as I'm sitting here typing this, I step outside the mage college and get wtfpwned by 5 "hired thugs". I'm typing, hear the sound of the world loading, then "we're here to teach you a lesson" and get beat down before I can grab my controller.

You're dealing with a woman here... If you spin the 3d closeup of the helmet you'll notice that on the left lower flange below the ear, it says "Prada"

Level 90 Smithing.
Crafted Daedric Armor, Lydia is wearing it for now. Going for 100 to make myself Dragon Scale.

You can't take away any of Lydia's basic gear. That's essentially her "naked" loadout. She will only equip gear when it's better than what she has, and not always. For example, with a orcish heavy shield of 45 armor, I gave her another orcish shield of 48. She still equipped the 45 shield until I removed it.

Whenever I dumped loot on her to mule, she used to equip shitty iron battlexes instead of the badass sword or axe I had given her to use.

She seems to use only health potions, no other kind, and will use scrolls liberally. Also, I read her archery is buggy and she doesn't actually use whatever badass bow you give her, she uses her own bow.

I somehow lost Lydia last night. She pathed around lost like usual, but this time hasn't shown up after fast travelling.....I think she got eat by a dragon somewhere. Now I need to find a new companion to mule around my loot...

I'm thinking the barfight girl would be able to carry around alot?

I don't know why you guys even bother with companions. The few times the game has forced a companion on me (Farkas, etc.) they just get in my way where I end up shooting them in the back with an arrow or they wake up the Draugrs. One time in Cidhna Mine I had a whole gang of companions attack me because I used a Fire shout on a Dwarven Sphere and they all got in the way.

She can. I haven't compared actual weight numbers but I picked her up last night and raided a dwemer ruin and grabbed a metric fuckton of random loot. Ran out of space maybe 3/4 of the way through, but she carried it. Also someone said earlier companions can carry infinite loot if you task them to pick it up instead of giving it to them. Haven't tried that yet though. Also accidentally killed the bar fight girl several times last night and had to keep reloading...she charges right into my line of fire when I'm casting.

I feel you on that Alan. I don't like having them with me either. I rely on stealth to do a lot of my stuff. I've been killed by them tripping traps that I went past.

:rofl I tried that with a spiked gate that would slam you against the wall. She just kept going into her "rest and recover" crouch. Seemed like the only way I've been able to kill them so far is if I accidentally hit them with a weapon or spell in the middle of a big fight.

I only use them as a pack mule. Sometimes it's nice with dragon fights though to have a tank.

the only companion I need is my spectral assassin. Its like summing some one but there is no limit on how far away you can cast it. I've tossed him in front of a dragon as I was on a cliff up so high I could barely see him. He did a good job of distracting the dragon while I filled it with arrows. Plus he has some funny one liners.
