Solar Eclipse Glasses?

I wish. Unfortunately we are way off the path of totality so not as much interest here locally. Although I am still taking the kiddos out of school to see it as the school is not doing anything that day but the school district gives them Mardi Gras days off. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Although I talked to a friend in Kansas City who is only 40 mile from totality so they get a 99.68% total eclipse and even though thousands of people are showing up there to view they also are not doing anything for the school kids. Go figure.

I asked my kid what his school would be doing. He didn't even know there was going to be an eclipse and said he wasn't aware of anything planned. I found that really hard to believe and intended to keep him home on Monday to watch it.

Last night I got an email reminder from the school explaining how they were excited to witness such a historic evemt, the whole school would be provided free glasses by the district, and they'd be suspending classes and assembling on the field to watch it. I love the info I get from my little dumbass.

:laughing That's hilarious

soooo, what do you do with these glasses when the eclipse is over

you can get them for $2.50 + tax @ the lick observatory gift shop on mt Hamilton and have a nice ride too. They are open from noon - 5pm tomorrow and Sunday

How far would I ride to see an eclipse? Certainly not to Oregon.
For those that go don't wait until its over, cut out early to beat the traffic :twofinger

i feel sorry for those who bought knockoffs who don't know they have knockoffs. There are jerks who want to turn a quick buck on this event. the effectiveness of the glasses is nill.

usa today article says to check the International Organization for Standardization "ISO" icon on the eclipse glasses. The key is the ISO reference number 12312-2.

For those of you considering wearing welding glass goggles, at least check if it meets the shade 14 welding lens rating

i guess what i want to say is, do your homework. the special solar filter on the eclipse glasses are there to protect your eyes. don't just take a chance. we often take good sight for granted.
