Just got my notice on a totally BS, as in no risk anywhere, 44 in a 25 on RWR.
$377 and a point on the license.
$436 for traffic school, and no point.
If you didn't know before, now you do. :mad
That is all.

That 25MPH limit is why many dont bother with RWR anymore. Going nearly double a posted limit anywhere isnt a good idea. Regardless of actual or perceived risk (perceived risk for me is that LEO might just be around the next corner so better back it down).

The cost however is borderline insane.

A lot of the "fine" is taxes and assessments. Blame the county for taxing the bail amount.

Were you speeding??

Just to show the difference between cal and other states, not to rub it in, I got a ticket two weeks ago in Montana for supposedly doing 84 in a 70. Total bail is $40! I wonder how long it will take for the point to show up here?

I don't hit rwr very often and will probably keep it that way.

Traffic school is a no brainer . Do it online too, takes about 20 min if that

CVC 22350 says not to drive faster than is safe, and nothing about exceeding posted limits. I haven't contested using that one in quite awhile..doubt it would fly. I think last TS I took was $135. dammit.
I got tagged going into Roseburg, OR in my GMC at 100 once. $80 ticket. Put it in the mail..this state is going to hell...

lol WOW...good luck with that reasoning...

Basic Speed Law is that you cant drive faster than is safe for conditions. It really has nothing to do with posted speed limits (although its default when you exceed posted speed limits that you have violated 22350---as posted speed limits ARE what is deemed the fastest you can go for conditions). Because 25 is what CA/county/city deemed the maximum safe speed for PERFECT conditions, you were still violating 22350 at 44 even in PERFECT conditions.

Basic Speed Law is open to your interpretation when there is NO posted (safe) maximum speed. And is ALWAYS open to interpretation by LEO--if it is raining going 65 in a 65 can be a violation, for example.

Again, each county taxes the bail amount as they see fit. Not the state going to hell, the county you got that ticket in likes to get you over the barrel.

Well if that is what you believe, go to court and fight the ticket. Convince the judge you're right, get off. Should be a piece of cake ...... :thumbup

If you think you're being unfairly targeted, subpoena the officer's 5 previous and 5 after your tickets and argue that it was pretextural against motos.

I was told that 15 over the limit, doubles the fine. That was in Marin. Fine was almost $400. Cop said I was doing 51 in a 35, (down that long straight with no turnoffs south of Nicasio), and 51 is kinda convenient if you're looking to collect the double-fine. So I asked to see the readout of whatever the 51 was recorded on. It doesn't save it I was told, but I was welcome to try and persuade a judge. I've seen that movie before and I know how it ends.
