Stock Thread 2019

it doesn't matter what this thread is called or what a new thread is called. whenever trolls find a good one, they ruin it for everybody ...

He's not a troll. He has an approach to stock picking/day trading that doesn't align with most people's needs, and that's okay.

It must really suck being you and constantly having those thoughts to the point that you have to share them.

At what point do you stop?

Thank you Cycle61.

Another stock I’ve been watching for years is called CLR. They do exploratory mining if I understand correctly. I’ve watch their stock triple and split in the past. Another one to watch as they are creeping upwards.

just noticed your location... :cool and :laughing

it doesn't bother me that people talk about a company or a certain stock on this thread. buy whatever you want, it's your money.

okay, it's all my imagination. he's not considered to be a troll anywhere on this board ... you think you can say something today in a thread and nobody notices what has been posted over time? ... what you post, people form an opinion of you. that is fact ... i am not that concerned about anyone who is a regular on this forum who has read his posts. i was just a little protective about those who haven't and take anything the self-described day trader as a good trading tip (e.g., buy at this dip, sell high, capture those short-term gains! prices creeping up, etc.)

but hey, we're all grown ass adults here. my main point is not to take everything you read as fact and buyer beware. i didn't need to say that but i won't delete my post either.

Thanks for crucifying me to inform everyone about buyer beware.

Folks this stems back to Awake not being able to take the PF. Then this person couldn’t handle the crypto thread and here we are now. I’m sorry you all have to deal with this. It’s pretty clear this person doesn’t like me and has formed an opinion of me without getting to know me. This person seems to takes everything at face value.

I can’t wait for Awake to buy GoPro now!

Also, count me in as somebody who tossed a couple bucks at PG&E to see what happens.

What is your plan? Do you have one or are you riding it out? I haven’t bought in yet. What Ernie talks about scares me however my own info says otherwise. This is why I love investing!

If your point was "Day trading is risky, buyer beware, and Entoptic's ideas may cause you to lose money" then perhaps you should have said that. Instead you chose to attack him and try to control the direction of discussion in this thread. Hint, that's not how the internet works. It doesn't matter if he tends to play devil's advocate in political discussions, that stands separate from his conversation about stock picking and daytrading here, or in the crypto thread. I don't agree with most of his suggestions, but I'm not going to try and stop the conversation.

What price did you buy at and how many if you don't mind sharing. I don't buy individual stocks but the idea is quite fascinating to me. When Netflix spun off qwikster in 2011 I said to my friends that if I could I would buy a bunch (At $8-9 I think).

Don't really have one. I don't hold a lot of individual stocks, but I'll bet on one now and then. Bought Amazon in late 2011 when they got beat down from $250 to $180, and rode that train all the way to $1100 a share. Bailed last year, and now it's obvious that I left some money on the table, but between them and TSLA there was too much high tech volatility in my portfolio for comfort. So TBH, I'll probably hold this for several years. It's a small position, just a few percent of total, so if it goes to zero I'm still okay. If they somehow turn things around and recover 5x-10x, then it'll be a nice little bump.

I put in a limit order at $6 yesterday, so apparently I own zero. And of course they're up 14% today. :laughing :facepalm

Well played on Amazon! Even if you left money on the table you still profited handsomely.

Tesla and Netlfix are my watch list today. Historically three day weekends are profit taking and with the market stabbing right up there has to be some downward trend coming either Monday or Tuesday imo.

PS - you're inbox is full. I tried to send you a pm/dm whatever the heck kids call it these days.

if only people would employ this bit of wisdom when it comes to Bloomberg, The Economist, CNBC, government officials, central banks, the weather channel...

Don't you be knockin the weather channel man, it's solid gold!:laughing

perhaps i can't word things as concisely as you do.

i know i can't stop the direction of the discussion in this thread, so i wasn't even trying to. i know i can post, just like any of you. and i was responding to the discussion that someone suggested that this thread be renamed or perhaps another thread should be started because there are a lot of conservative investors here. so, again, hindsight is 20-20. i can't deliver perfect lines at a moment's notice. i can only type what is on my mind.

he appeared to be a troll to me. this is what i mean: at this time, when people are wondering how much of their portfolio should be in equity or should they have anything in equity at all, along comes this discussion about pg&e. the pros and cons of buying this week. this guy professes to be a day trader, which he thinks automatically grants him the clout of knowing more than the usual john doe, suggesting that pg&e is a good buy, trying to generate interest in speculating on the stock price of a company that is likely to declare bankruptcy and continues to be in this pro-buying spiel, he's the only one talking. his MO is, he wants people to jump on the bandwagon, and he wants people to think he is a successful investor. pg&e is about to file for bankruptcy because it doesn't think it can remain solvent, so what is this joke about an analyst opinion that pg&e is solvent. what kind of rationale is that? it seems to me, getting people to talk about something they already don't have an interest is trolling. he never got a response by the way.

my opinion formed from all the posts i have read so far is, he is not a long-term investor. the posts made in the crypto thread seemed to me that he was trying to up-sell the non-asset based investments at the last rah-rah stage, so that there are others left holding the bag, while he found the ideal time to sell his shares. he has displayed troll-ish behavior to me. but you who are his friends, don't mind me. go ahead, continue talking about pg&e, the more there are people talking, the better ...
