StonyBARF 16 Sept 15, 2022

and rain gear

For me it was super short and sweet - I got in just before dark on Friday; left just after daylight Saturday. Got to see a few new faces as well as a handful of dependables. Hope everyone had a rockin' Saturday, and hope Sunday's rain wasn't too nutso. :ride

Thanks everybody!!
I can't believe how many people had a part in helping me fix my bike. Scotty, Eric, Drew... and all the rest.
Buena gente all around.
You all are the best!

Good to see familiar faces, missed seeing some regulars, but met plenty of great moto people.

Drew (CycleNomad) and EricB took me and Irene (prymnumber) on a great ride on Saturday. Some of my pics are actually Drew's. Hopefully Irene will post some of here pics too.

My Rally is a little big for the Singletrack but I wanted to see how it would do, and wanted to check out the Steam Donkey since I missed it every time I've been passed it.

Irene getting it!

Yay! How much rain? Friday etc?

yeah it rained all night Saturday through Sunday

My awning collected a lot of water.. Thank god it didn't burst on me.

Several hardy riders rode in the rain on Sunday.

Looks like a good time was had by all! :ride

A big barfy welcome to Irene and Renee, too! :party I'm looking forward to being able to do one of these again in the near future..assuming I still remember how to ride an actual motorcycle in the dirt :facepalm

Was there any water in the creeks? Little Stony Creek or the South Fork of Stony Creek? Did anyone catch any fish?

BoringChick

Looks like a wet Sunday. We have had those before. I'm bummed I could not make it to see everyone, but I had a Birthday to celebrate. Next time.

The creek crossings were almost dry. A bit more as Sunday progressed.

John (moto rider) caught fish. He can chime in on the where/when/how.

I look forward to the day you & Eric can join us.

I do so love seeing Barfers having fun on two!!

My fav pic so far.

There was water in all the (Davis Flats) tributaries. Mill Creek (East of Gray Pines), South Fork Stony Creek (East of Gray Pines), Middle Fork Stony Creek (bridge just before North Fork Campground) and North Fork Stony Creek Just North of North Fork Campground.

I arrived Monday and stayed at North Fork Campground until Thursday when I moved to Gray Pines.
I fished Stony Creek below the North Fork Campground and caught trout from 8 to 14 inches. Think I landed about 6 or 7 rainbow trout. Released all. This not counting the ones who jumped and threw the (barbless) hook. But I did see some big trout in a couple holes. Just couldn't hook em.
I also fished Letts Lake (moto ride up) and caught a half dozen or more small bass. About 6 to 8 inches.

Stony Creek below North Fork Camp spot # 5.

Your tent placement looks ominous under that wet tarp....

You have no idea how lucky I got. There must have been 5 gallons of water up on my awning. I can't believe it didn't break and douse me in my tent. Luke (elemental) came and pushed some off, and then when I went to do the same it poured all over me and soaked me :wtf

Are you going to post any of your pics? :cool

Speaking of elemental / Luke - Did anyone get any pics of his Trials stunts/practicing he was doing? He was effortlessly hopping logs, and doing all sorts of cool wheelies. Really fluid with his movements. Looks real comfortable on that bike.

StonyBARF….Absolutely an Epic time. Thank you everyone for awesome group rides. I love these gatherings and each time I feel I have improved my skills and each event better than the last. And It’s all thanks to all of you good folks! It was great to see so many of you again and catch up. And as always great to have awesome neighbors (Jack, Kathy, and Randy) for the weekend.
I am sorry I missed the opportunity to ride in the rain Sunday you all have such epic ride stories… but I enjoyed my R&R back at camp, something I don’t get too often. It was a hard decision but I did enjoy my book and was able to get a fire restarted for the cold/wet riders.
