Just figure I'd share a few pics. Thanks to Chad (Ironbutt) for the welding.

Loose pieces cut right

Mocked up on the bike... should I go with the higher or lower way?

I think lower looks better but it'll be your butt in the saddle. Make it perfect for your body size.

yeah, the higher would probably be more comfortable IF the gas tank cutouts were placed right for it... problem is they aren't, so I'm likely going with the lower - which is a hair over stock height.

I like the lower mounting because the edge of the seat connects with the upper frame.

:x I was in my welding slippers..

Lower- because when you're riding in a straight line, relaxed, U R balls are going to slowly but surely get smashed into the tank.

For the ride, I prefer higher. I like being on top of the bike rather than inside. Makes more sense for urban riding too, should you need to throw your elbows up.

aesthetically it look a little bit cleaner with the seat low. But then again, you could also fab up some trim pieces to cover it up.

edit: actually come to think of it, the low position looks rather high to begin with. Higher than stock yeah?

Meh, I think that looks fine, I would have to see it in different positions for comparison to know for sure.
You should be careful when riding with that piece of wood holding your seat up...it might slip when you take off :rofl

low is a little higher than stock yeah

Looks good! I like higher, but lower looks more functional!

I realized I could raise the tank a little if I want, which would let leg cutouts match the seat a little better. Hmm...

I'm just wondering if it's finished..... I mean, whats going to kjeep it from falling down into the tire and rubbing a new hole in your ass? I like how it sits a little high. What tail section is that?

not finished yet. will have struts going up from stock lower mounts.

Seat is from current gen Monster

I figured as much about it being fiished. Like the look of it so far.

someone on the TWF forum pointed out that I won't really be able to lift the tank once I get the subframe mounted. Oops. Well, I don't do that too often anyway...

got the upper mounts done

still need to hack the lower rails off my stock subframe, figure out how long they need to be and where I want them to mount, and then get the bike over to Chad's place to weld them on
