Subframe fab

I'll need to get/make the tool to remove the swingarm, I don't have it right now. I've got a spare swingarm that I'll probably brace at some point, then black out, the install.

For the forks, I might just try to find a set of 06+ 750 - they're black from the factory. I'd need a new lower triple and caliper spacers, but that's it. They're also a little longer, so it would be a good excuse to lengthen the shock more, as I like ground clearance.

Looks awesome! Swing arm and forks will be rad when they are black too!! :thumbup

Well that done turned out decent.

you can remove the swingarm with a brass drift and hammer.

reinstallation you should use the right tool though, or your own version of it anyway

After a crash May 3 there was some damage to the bike.
Headlight
forks
lower triple
front wheel/right rotor
right caliper (cosmetic)
right peg, rearset
handlebars
exhaust (cosmetic)
mirrors

and I'm sure other stuff too.

So far I've replaced the front wheel/rotor, bars, headlight, footpeg, and have forks/triples sitting waiting to go on.

Still needs more work, but it's coming along pretty well IMO

nice work :thumbup

I chopped my SV's subframe up (including the rear cross braces) to get a Gixxer tail to fit over it... any thoughts on whether or not something could be welded back to it for support. Right now I can't put any weight on the back half of the tail. Thanks! :ride

Yeah, you could easily weld something in for support. I would suggest doing so.

And I did some more to the bike today:

everything removed from the front end

new front end mostly on

headlight and all on - I think the headlight needs to be a little lower though

Anyone have suggestions for turn signals that would look good with this front end setup? Or for the rear, for that matter... it's got an integrated one now, but more legal might be helpful.

I used a setup that would look good on your front end. Cheap LED lights from CG. Amber lens would look a little more street legal too.

I should've thought to paint my lower triple before putting it on, like yours :laughing oh well, not gonna do it now

I moved the headlight down a bit since that picture - roughly the thickness of the straps holding it to the forks. So, I don't have room under the headlight like you do there. I could use a similar set mounted to the headlight ears I suppose. I had been thinking of something more angular.

that's where the headlight now is. I wish I could lower it and push it back a little but it's just about up against the steering damper and ignition switch.
