Texting instead of Calling--ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!

Texting is ok mostly for quick notes, for precise spelling of addresses or names, for times , things like that ; and whenever you are in a noisy or, a quiet environment.

But yeah I agree with the premise of the OP that people have taken to making WHOLE CONVERSATIONS over text and IT'S ACTUALLY NOT EFFICIENT AT ALL .

Usually all it takes is ONE FULL HOUR of texting in order to coordinate something that could take 2 or 5 minutes over a phone call.

yeah, but I don't want that. I want zero notification from 10pm-7am. nothing

That's like standard on Android. You can always do it

If it takes you ONE FULL HOUR of texting to coordinate something you either have very indecisive friends or your life is too complicated.

I do have a bit of indecisive friends who send 14 text messages over a full hour sometimes

now that I think about it... it's actually THE ONES WHO TEXT THE MOST

:laughing

For work, texting has let me carry on 3 "conversations" at once within the time span it would take to have made one phone call. I typically call when it's important or simply have the time.

Lefty are you from a small town in Massachusetts?

For my job, calling is much more efficient than texting, especially given the maze funding restrictions on two of my properties, etc. It's also really annoying when the other party doesn't quite understand what they are talking about and I have to guess via text. It's much faster if I talk it through with them or if I re-send a previous email explaining it.

Yes, I work with some semi-boneheaded people. :laughing

I could see that texting works more efficiently in some workplaces where everyone is more or less synched up and organized. :dunno

If you need an answer one day, send me an email.
If you need an answer in the next hour or so, send me a text.
If you need an answer right the F now, call me.

LOL, this is why I usually call. I am not interested in waiting for you to respond on YOUR time allowance. I also do a lot of desk drive bys at the office.

Reminds me of people that ask for raises by email and then are shocked that they don't get one.

LOL, people ask for raises?

And if the other party doesn't pick up?

You leave a message, wait 1 business day for a response to your voice mail and email, then you just make their decision for them if they haven't gotten back to you yet. I have no interest on waiting for other people in order to get shit done, I have a plan to execute.
