Who cares how far?:rolleyes

It's not the burger, it's the ride. :wow

Several times I've ridden to Parkfield, for lunch... 25 past Pinnacles, Peach Tree, Indian Valley, then cut back inland... some sweet, sweet roads, what better excuse do you need to get out for a ride?

Perfect ride, IMHO. Having that one stretch of gravel and some terrible pavement keeps the riff-raff away, too.

None of the options in the poll are anywhere near long enough for my taste. If I haven't burned a whole tank of gas before breakfast I don't think I'm doing it correctly.

None of the options are long enough? :laughing That's what "Further, are you nuts?" is for.

Before my time, my grandfather used to do this with his plane, so the stories go. He called it the $50 burger. That's 1960's $50.

I rode 70+ miles to The Junction a couple weeks ago to have crappy pizza (now I know). I would ride further for something I like as long as the roads between point A and point B are twisty :ride

My vote is for Val's in Hayward. Hell, I've even bicycled there for their Mama Burger.

This is the $100 hamburger at fields station. after helping someone land on the road, just wish they had a drive-thru. ;)

oh yeah, at fields station, it is also all about the milkshakes. ;)

You guys have got me thinking about burgers for lunch on Saturday. My plan had been to have lunch at the Cold Spring Tavern - which apparently does a pretty good burger - but now you've got me questioning that default choice. :drool

the Burger Saloon is Woodland is pretty dang good. I went to Bibi's Burger Bar is Santa Rosa last weekend...pretty good as well.

So, is it the journey or the destination?
Ride to eat, or eat to ride?
What about all those burgers that didn't make the grade, but the ride was exceptional?

And, what happened to the Pie Quest '15 that was started last fall?

I always liked Nation's in FF and VV, pie with a good greasy chee burger instead of fries.

It was interrupted by a broken ankle. :( Still searching for pie. Why ask why?

Kirk's Steakburgers in San Jose.

Nepenthe in Big Sur.

We've ridden and driven the 50+ miles each way for them.

And 120+ to Hamburgers in Sausalito!

I was in the BA 3 weeks last fall, didn't make it to a ride for Pie Quest.

Right now I searching the Avenue of the Giants for such things as pie & burgers.
I checked, the north end is mostly closed now, out of business, Myers Flat to Pepperwood.
Miranda had a diner, Phillipsville has the Riverwood Inn, Garberville and Redway, gotta check those too.
Scotia and Rio Dell still have open restaurants, but lost a few too.

My favorite burger place was right across from my work until it closed and was replaced by a fucking starbucks. :mad

I'd never go out of my just for a burger, but I like to know where a good one is when I'm passing through. That said, I'm a fan of Giant burger in Arnold.
