The company I work for is closing down.

Congrats Ken. Life isn't about being sedentary. Go forth and create your future life!

Thank you sir.

If there is anything I could offer your company feel free to PM me. I really don't know what my resume would look like. I don't think "42 years working at a dysfunctional family-owned, once world-class machine shop. Started as a manual machinist, CNC operator, CNC mill department programmer. Transitioned to shop manager. Able to multi-task, solve manufacturing problems, excellent customer service and vendor communication skills, scheduling and expediting. Served as Purchasing manager and ERP Trainer " would go over too well. :deadhorse Could be fun! Customers and Source Inspectors have always respected and appreciated my open and honest nature. I always told new contacts that for better or worse, I will not offer up bullshit or lies. This M.O. has served me well throughout my tenure.

This will scare you, but sounds about perfect. I'll talk with the group and see their thoughts too. I think we will have needs that might work well on a contract basis...more so to keep your schedule as you'd want it.

I’ll be happy to give you a sterling letter of recommendation!

Oh Jeez, there are other dysfunctional shops extant? Do tell! I have 4 decades out of 6 decades of life experience...

Denizens of BARF, I sincerely thank and appreciate all y'all for putting up with my ramblings and bullshit. Life moves on, as mine is doing, obviously. Is y'all or all y'all the proper vernacular? I'm probably retired, so I probably don't GIF. :twofinger

Time marches on; there's no there's to avoid it. I hope all our remaining time is joyful and productive; yours as well.

Both Monarchs are at $525.00. Each has Baldor drives, although just one is listed as such.

You are simply transitioning from one part of your life to the next part. Though it can be scary and filled with unknowns, you will come out on top of it all. I know. I’ve been there.

Nearly 40 years ago I found myself without a job, without a career, and without a wife. I was about as low as anyone could get. But I continued on and turned it all around and found a wonderful new career and a wonderful new wife.

You can do the same kinds of things. Though it’s a cliched expression, it’s also true….one can do anything they set their mind to do. Have faith in yourself and dream big.

Hey there BARF machinists; if you have any scrap carbide tooling or scrap (end mills, drills, reamers, lathe inserts, wire EDM guides etc) now is the time to sell. Industrial Metal Recycling in San Jose is offering $11.00 per pound until July 31st. It has been hovering at $8.00 to $9.00 for a while, and I know of one large recycling outfit that is offering a paltry $4.00 per lb.

Ask for Heidi and tell her Ken sent you. The owner (Jeff) and her are having a friendly contest to see who can bring in the most $ during this time. I'm trying to help Heidi and dick with Jeff at the same time (Jeff is a fantastic guy). (408) 294-2334

I hope this post doesn't violate the TOS in any way; if so please delete it and accept my apology.

I'd love-love-love one of those for cheap, but I'm guessing they'll be in the $4k+ range. And really they could go for more than twice that if the hipsters are watching.

Wish there was a rota rack that'd fit a Mori NL in there. Bar feeder too...

think they'll separate? I'm thinking they won't want to. Thanks Ken.

It's possible. Rich Reppert (RPM Machine Repair) came in a few weeks ago to inspect the machine. He stated the spindle was really noisy. I don't know if he went WOT from cold start or eased into it over time. If the machine is labeled a POS they might entertain an offer on the federal. Contact Drew Kirkendall, auctioneer, 520.982.1732, drop my name. He is very chill.

Hey! You said dick! Really tho, this is porn… “rota rack that'd fit a Mori NL…”

Did anyone see what the 10EEs went for?

Out of my price range I didn't bid on them.. I did register late and tried to bid on some carts that had no other bids and mine was rejected. Eh. Oh well. I assume the auctioneer didn't approve me in time.

What happens to the stuff that doesn't sell at auction?
