The company I work for is closing down.

I think the two blue ones might have been around $1k each, which would have been awesome.

I asked today about unsold items. I was told by the auctioneer that he will need to inquire with the owner and her lackey about their disposal. I feel there will be a number of pieces that are sold as scrap. Sad. I watched bidding close on a twin spindle Matsuura CNC Mill at $825.00.

I bid on a bunch of carbide tooling lots, hoping to sell the as scrap for %11.00 per lb (price good through July 31st). I suspected the pricing would go bonkers and it did on all lots. Obviously they have value to shops beyond scrap; the usable ones can cut metal and once dull or broken, be reground / re-coated sold for $8.00 to $9.00 per lb, which has been recent pricing.

I will ask the auctioneer about the hammer price for the Monarchs, I missed the auction close on them unfortunately. Some of the other CNC mills went for pitifully low prices. Karma can be a bitch.....

Sucks to scrap out perfectly good machine tools out of pettiness. I feel for you and everyone out of work right now Ken. It’s a damn shame.

The shame is in the way the owner and her daughter put an end to things. The company could have been sold and stayed intact, with all employees given the opportunity to stay, Karma will kick their asses. In case I sound bitter, I am not. I am at peace with the situation for myself. However, I care deeply about a few of my former teammates who will now suffer. Shame.

FWIW I think you have every right to be angry, even bitter. Ron and the crew built something awesome and it should have been kept intact for the exact reasons you mentioned. It really sucks.

If you’re in the neighborhood, the offer stands to come check out our humble operation. My boss Dan knew Ron too.
