The DCFC stations are only along the freeways, and not along the twisties. I did the map and math planning for a Skaggs loop for the new 20 kWh Energica SS9+ with DCFC vs my 13.0 kWh Zero SR with potential install of 10 kW DigiNow. It's pretty much the same amount of time, but the Zero SR affords more flexibility of where to spend more charging time, in case the environment or accommodations are poor.
AFAIK, any vehicle that can use CCS can also charge with J-1772.
The older Energica battery charges faster than the new, per mile of charge added, in most cases.
With a battery a KWH is only a KWH at the current draw they spec it at. They can spec it where they get the very best numbers, which may not be the way you want to use it.
By Energica's own specs:
The 21.5/ /18.9 KWH battery is 61% more capacity in KWHs than the 13.4/11.7 KWH battery by Energica's own numbers.
However, the charge time is DOUBLE (100%) longer. 0-85% 40 min versus 20 minutes.
And the new battery is obviously only 40% more in capacity at the higher speeds, however, is really double capacity at the slow city speeds, when we ignore the KWH ratings.
Freeway range on the 13.4/11.7 KWH battery=80 mile
Freeway range on 21.5/ /18.9 KWH battery=112 miles
City is 124 / 249 miles
But the charge time is exactly double when charging to 85% SOC.
Energica's own spec for the CCS charge times are "0 to 85% SOC 20 Min" for the 13.4/11.7 KWH battery and 40 min for the 21.5/ /18.9 KWH battery.
This means, with the newer battery, we get the same miles added per minute charge at slow speeds, but much less than that if riding at higher speeds when compared to the 13.4/11.7 KWH battery.
IOW, an average of more miles added per minute charge on the older battery.
So if they both charge at 26 KW max, it seems the older battery is more efficient than the new.
