The Electric Motorcycle Thread

Maybe the White Ghost is actually the project that Sur Ron was working on before the Light Bee. They decided to make the Light Bee first because they didn't have much experience back then. So they made the Light Bee then they handed the project off to Voge who is going to produce it now. All I can say about Sur Ron is it's a new company but their parts and engineering have really impressed me.

They talk about it in this podcast at 1:09

Anyone able to get onto the EV forum?

https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/

Mine says "Account suspended" but I haven't even posted there in awhile. Usually just browse around. I'm wondering if "Account suspended" is a general one as it says "Contact your hosting provider"

I seen that podcast
I wonder if the Sur Ron guys were already talking to Segway at that time...
Eric is an interesting guy, met him a long time ago when he was still living in SF.

:rofl Look at that guy lean that thing like 15 degrees omg

Looks cool, but I can say as an electrician and as a rider who's been known to do some high speed lawn mowing that putting virtually unguarded high voltage motor terminations on the side of a motorcycle ranks right up there in the pantheon of what-were-they-thinking? bad ideas.

It's got a little mushroom protector thing on it =P

I was going through some old pictures from 2015 and I remember seeing the Arcimoto riding near the SJ airport one day. I looked them up to see what they were up to and it looks like they are actually selling it now, slowly anyway. It's like an electric spyder. Haven't seen one on the road again yet though. It can go 75mph and has a range of about 100 miles. Interesting to see the actual range is like because it's lighter than an automobile but heavier than a motorcycle but it has a canopy. Haha now that they mention it does look like a golfkart.

Random, but I can't remember where I saw it but is Zero supposed to announce some new stuff or have some general "news" in the new year?

I thought I saw someone say that or an article alluding to it. I may be just hopeful and making things up :ride

In other news, got an email from Zero saying a new tax incentive was just signed into law. 10% up to $2500 on 2018+ electric motorcycles. So that should help sales a bit.

Yep, I was on the fence and this swings me towards test riding the 20 kWh Energicas when they come out. If the EsseEsse9 is flickable while trail braking, I'll get it. Unexpected Xmas present.

It looks like the Evo and Eva qualify for the $750 CVRP rebate too. But I don't see the EsseEsse9 on the CVRP Eligibility list when I search. Interesting.

I'm not sure if anyone caught this but starting Jan 1 it will finally be illegal to bill for charging by time.

All providers will have to bill by kwh.

This is great for emotos. Makes owning one even cheaper!

That sure is good news for my Energica. But I wonder if they will raise the KWH rate, which means cars will get screwed instead of bikes.

BTW, is that only for CA? What about other states?

Do you have a link? I searched and could not find a word about this.

That's probably because the correct name of the EsseEsse 9 is "EVA EsseEsse 9". IOW, the SS9 is a type of Eva, so it doesn't need to be listed separately.

CA only.

I don't think they can raise the kwh rate too much. People just won't charge there if it's absurdly expensive.

evGO was the worst for timed charging. Some stations are 33kW, some are 50kW, but all are billed the same by-the-minute charge. Looks like that will be a thing of the past.

But the only people who need fast charging are those who are far from home in their EV, so they have little choice regardless of price.

EVGo is what I have been using the most, as that's all there is between my two houses in Reno, NV and my house in Auburn, CA for CCS charging on my Energica. So this is good news for me. Now perhaps charging my bike will cost less than CA's ridiculous price for gasoline.

BTW, here in Yuma, AZ the gas price is around $2.70. A few miles away in CA, add more than a buck per gallon to that price.

So of course i fill up this RV before I get out of Yuma!

I am hoping somebody will make a decent E-RV in my lifetime! I wonder if Elon is reading these messages . . .

Actually that is a pretty dope idea. Solar panel setup on top and charge by day and drive at night.
