The Electric Motorcycle Thread

Toyota is going to be racing with a hydrogen ICE powered corolla in an endurance race this month. It has a 3 cylinder turbocharged engine. Would be interesting to see how they do, curious why they didn't use a FCEV instead. Toyota likes to try different things I guess. I'm not a big fan of hydrogen combustion engine though they don't seem efficient but if there were a lot of hydrogen it is much cleaner combustion than gasoline. Supposedly it's not efficient, but I guess Toyota is out to prove that it is by racing in an endurance race with it. So there might be hope for the internal combustion engine yet.

Also remember the Segway Ninebot Apex? Well they're making the Apex H2! It can go like 93mph, 0-60 in 4 seconds, and makes like 80HP. Supposedly it will be around $10,000 also. It has removable hydrogen canisters also like a BBQ grill on wheels =P Will be interesting when we get to see the actual bike.

LOL it only took Segway two decades to figure out that two wheels side by side was an answer to a question that nobody was asking. I saw the prototype of the original Segway at a private event in the UAE and made myself quite unpopular falling about about laughing at it. I honestly thought its was joke, just a PR stunt.

I think Segway was mostly a failure and the current Segway is actually Ninebot, a Chinese company, that bought the assets and brand of the original Segway.

Yes I was aware of that. The downside is that the stink from the original came with the assets.

8hp... for the voge
might be kart trackable?

Yeah it's like as fast as a Sur Ron Light Bee =P They said 125cc power and that's about the power a stock Light Bee makes.

It's basically a Light Bee with a larger frame and battery. You'd think with the Storm Bee coming out they would have used the powertrain from the Storm Bee but I guess that's about when Voge and Sur Ron part ways.

I still think a super moto storm bee would be really well received and I'd have a hard look at one. They got to come up with a better name though.

I don't know who this/anything about the seller - but they dropped the craigslist price by another $1k.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/mcy/d/aptos-energica-eva-ribelle-21kwh/7321832141.html

If someone is interested in the new Energica EVA with the bigger battery this is not a bad deal IMO. Especially with the waits - I heard you can't grab them new at the moment.

Price still a bit too far from zero for me... Would be interested if dropped to around 18, otherwise not worth paying MSRP minus incentives for a used bike that is one model year old. The wait can't be that bad, it's not like the demand for these is through the roof.

Too bad that Voge doesn't have just a little more oomph, it's a very good looking machine.

True. I like it when bikes aren't styled to look like ICE or something wild. The Voge looks pretty distinctive and pleasing to the eye. Too bad it's not really usable here with those specs.

Anyone been keeping an eye on Damon with their shape shifter motorcycle? Heard they were planning to do a demo day this summer, not sure what came of that.

I didn't even think of the incentive aspect. Great point :thumbup

Yep you are 3 pages too late we mentioned all of it already =P

Just looked at the new act that passed the Senate committee. Unfortunately no mention of motorcycles, but looks like cars will be getting a massive new rebate.

So what's the current wait for a new Energica these days? They still months out at CalMoto?

Good point. The Moto industry should get in on this. Motos are affordable, low footprint transportation. Recognize.

I sent my Guzzi off to Los Gatos today having pushed my life on two wheels about as far as I can, I'm replacing it with an Arcimoto FUV which isn’t exactly a motorcycle but it is licensed as one.
