The Electric Motorcycle Thread

How much does your FXS weigh, 293 lb? I'm at 414 lbs with stock braided lines and pads, and it's a decent sprotbile for my purpose, but I won't add the 45-lb Power Tank due to the brakes, and it would ruin the center of gravity.

That's a SR? The Empulse TT isn't far off its around 460lbs. The FXS feels superlight when I rode it. Must be in the 300s.

Wow specs the Strike aren't too shabby. 18kwh batterypack that's huge! Looks like they give you charging options also.

isn't the strike being unveiled on the 28th?

One positive thing that I'm hoping for, with the electric motorcycles here in Texas, is the possibility of planing on doing TD's at night, without the noise, during the summer.

Just in case anyone is interesting in owning a very rare historical electric motorcycle. There is a Brammo Empulse TTX one of only 3 ever made for auction in PA starting at $15k you get all the cool stuff in the picture too! Looking at that bike it's worth more than $15k the Victory Empulse TT was selling for $20k MSRP and it doesn't have all the racing bits like the ohlins suspension.

Lot # 20a
Lead Brammo motorcycle
Description
RARE ELECTRIC BIKE:
Brammo Empulse TTX, One of only three of these privateer bikes ever sold outside of the factory for the race team to show. The race version helped the team win a number of Championships in the few short years that Brammo was the leader in the electric bike industry.

Includes all three team members autographs on the tank, Shelina Moreda (pro racer & model), Shane Turpin, Eric Bostrum and the technician. Shelia Moreda rode the bike in a race against Airplanes at the Lehigh Valley Air Show. Eric Bostrum rode it as a guest coach at a Ducati Track Day. The bike has about 205 miles on it. Yes, it has a title, see photo attached.

The Brammo comes with all the merchandising items from the original purchase, as well as a storage crate and computers and tools to tune it.

The bike competed in and won the AHRMA historic motorcycle race, it was the only time it ever raced and was part of the electric race bike category in the production class. Yes, it has a title.

If you would like to view this item earlier than the scheduled public preview, please call the auctioneer at 610-799-0808.

I wish my income was more disposable than it currently is.

Got an email from Energica (because I'm an Energica fanboy =P). There is going to be an Electric Motorcycle exhibit at the Petersen Museum starting April 5th if anyone is in the area and wants to check it out.

Some other events Energica is participating in:
> Electric Revolution @ The Petersen Museum – Los Angeles CA – April 5
> Hand Built Show – Austin TX – April 12 - 14
> Dainese SF Energica Night – San Francisco CA – May 2
> The Quail Motorcycle Exhibition – Monterey CA – May 4

Yesterday, after tooling around some local hero dirt, I rode a piece of Mt Hamilton road.

And passed a CHP on a side street. And he pulled out behind me. I turned onto the next street. He followed. He said something on the loudspeaker.

I stopped. I had my my temporary DMV paperwork out before he was out of the car.

"Oh, it's plated? Is that an Alta Motors?"
Yup...
"That's pretty cool! Ride safe..."

Cool Story Bro?

You have a plated Alta?????? Craziness!

Blatant Moto

I believe the Blatant Moto Alta flat tracker is going to be at the Petersen exhibit as well (and maybe the Alta "Crapshoot" drag bike?)

Hey I'll be in Austin during that time, maybe I could stop by if I got the time.

Redshift EX was a dualsport and they had a Supermoto. In Butch's case it's plated but not plated apparently =P

Yes, the EX was plated from the factory. It weighs a bit more than my MX, but is still a truly incredible dirtbike.

And really fun to explore around the neighborhood.
Hey, look! An empty lot! I wonder where the end of it is...

I rode the SM, the supermoto, and OMG fun. Energy capacity and wind resistance and accelaration on a motorcylcle is a physics thing.

The SM was wicked fun. Seriouly wicked fun.

Altas have a 5.8 kWh battery. That goes away really, really fast at say, 50 mph sitting up straight.

I get 40 miles, three hours, on my MX/ EX but that is with minimal wind resistance, at 15 mph trail riding.

Electric moto rocks for my needs, but not all.

Oh yeah with the SRF and Strike coming out don't forget california has clean air rebates on electric vehicles. I got $900 for my Empulse and there is a federal tax credit also saved my ass when when taxes rolled around :)

Here is the current list of elegible motorcycles:
Alta Motors Redshift EX
Alta Motors Redshift EXR
Alta Motors Redshift SM
BMW C evolution
Energica Ego
Energica Eva
Zero DS
Zero DSR
Zero FX
Zero FXS
Zero S
Zero SR
Zero SR/F

Doesn't look like any Lightning is on the list... one less reason to buy a Lightning =/ Hope they get on that that's one more selling point there. Even Alta is still on there...

Year models here:

How much is the federal rebate on the SR/F?

By the way, for anyone who may be interested:

I have a neighbor in Berkeley who has an Alta SM (street legal) with under 200 miles on the clock. He got it years ago and literally never rides it. That poor bike just sits there under a cover gathering dust.

Someone make him an offer so that thing can get used like it was meant to be--tearing sh!t up!

PM me for 411.

I don't want to know about this. My wallet is quivering.
