The Essential Trials Stickie

OK, if it was 10 ft you landed it very well indeed....;)

Byke, yes we have access to this property year round as long as you can get there since it is above snow level and no road maintenance. There is a property loop trail that allows us to access anywhere on the property but little to no trails since trial bikes with their low air pressure rarely leave tracks it's actually hard to tell motorcycles even use the property. There are lots of OHV trails all around the forest that surrounds the property and we don't allow dirt bikes to ride on our property since we have environmental neighbors watching us. Luke that was a 10 foot boulder not 2 feet. :teeth

Right on, thanks. It's just like 20min down the road from me and if it were open to members all the time, that sure seems like an excellent excuse to pick up a trials bike.

Anybody up for a ride this weekend ? Being Valentines day I presume Sat would be better then Sun ? Jim may be hosting over in Nacasio not sure yet. Im up for Carnagie, Metcalf or Frank Raines ?

Gotta' talk to my wife to see if it's possible, been out the last two weekends so I'm not counting on it. Went to Carnegie on Sunday with the whole family, kids rode the xr70, she played around on the Ossa (and had fun with it) I rode the 550 a little and had a blast.

I see the BAC, Fenner and Carr on the calendar but haven't seen the FR event listed yet, any idea if it's happening this year? Usually it's the first and that's coming up fast....

I don't think the Frank Raines is going to happen after last year, redneck hillbillies wet wild out there, not sure though.

I think Saturday will work for me. I emailed Jim this morning to see if he was hosting in Nicasio. If not I will probably hit Metcalf. Mike Mouldoon showed me some good sections to practice there.

Let me know if you hear from Jim.

I agree with Sid, thinking Frank Raines is probably out this year.

Didn't hear a thing about it last year, what happened? Are you going to ride more this year Mark? You disappeared after Cow Pile last year and you were coming on strong.

Hey Luke, yeah bad stuff at last years FR event. Someone's KTM dual sport was stolen, rowdy loud 4 wheelers partying to like 3am. I remember Joe Bill saying it was so crazy he gave his daughter a hammer to carry with her to the bathroom.

Going to try to ride more this year. I live in San Jose so its tough for me to make it to the events at the PITS property, CARR, etc. I find myself riding my enduro bike less and less so I hope to have more time on the trials bike :thumbup

Mark I spoke with Jim yesterday and he said not sure if they are riding, (relatives in town). Sat works for me, what time will you be there ?

Whatever works for you. Maybe 10am? My buddy might come on his big bike. I'm trying to get him into trials, thought he could try my bike out.

Mike Hubbel is usually out there too.

Going will be a long shot but if I can I'll be there. Sure would be fun to ride in a new place even though I'm no huge fan of Metcalf (at least on a big bike).

Agree that metcalf is a little small for the bike bikes however for trials I think it has some great areas. Maybe not as diverse as prairie city but pretty dang close.

FYI - I think I'm going to meet my buddy and ride our bike bikes until 10am. So if you don't see me right at 10am just ride the trials area near the parking lot and I'll be by shortly :)

Hell of a trial today!

Luke, thank you for helping me with my bike after I drowned it :( Where did you get that spark plug wrench? I need to pick up one of those.

How did you guys end up doing? Hopefully I'll do better at the Prairie city around. If nothing else this was great practice for mud riding :)

Soooo much fun! Some were complaining about the conditions, I could do that every weekend, loved the challenge of the slop. Finally got a clean on section 9 (Dan's section up the creek with all the waterholes and steps) on the last lap; never cleaned Section 1 or 2 (2 was Adrian's) or 4 (Mandy's). Got to keep working on those super tight turn into a 16" rock things....
Quite a few bikes did the submarine, pretty sure Howard did his. No problem with helping out Mark, since we didn't see you back at your truck I'm assuming you got your bike running and completed the final lap? I bought a cheapo plug wrench then lopped off the handle and re-welded it so I could get at the plug on my 550 without moving anything. It has proven to be a nice little item to carry just in case....I think it was at cycle gear.
I'll probably be checking at P.C., need to get some worker points and that could be a good spot to do it. Really want to ride Carr so I don't want to check there.
Gotta' look at the score card, I got 11:21:11 in my 3 rounds, not sure how that placed overall. Sid did pretty good if I remember, close to my scores and he was INT.

See you guys at the next one and maybe a practice this weekend.

I DNF'd as the air filter was just too wet and I had some water in the gearbox fluid. It was a fun trial other than that. If you could ride well not stuff the dry seems like a piece of cake.

I need to replace some internal parts to get rid of that ticking noise and not sure if I can get it done before this weekend. I should have it ready for Prairie city though. I'll check out cycle gear for that spark plug wrench, thanks for the tip.

The scores are up on the sector its website if you want to look at them. Sid got second! Looks like he would've beat me over all is well. He's warming up to that for stroke!!!
