The Home Grower's Thread

If you want me to come over and see your setup, I could probably help you out.

I'd appreciate it if you're ever in the city

This one is nearing the end so I'd really like to do it properly next grow

Just got my electric bill, the LEDs caused it to go down over $100...it basically will pay for itself in 5 months.

Ok so I'm adding nutrients everyday to the coco and they seem to be turning green again.

THe non-coco aren't really recovering not sure what to do. I won't beat myself up too bad since this is my first grow.

just manage, and learn... thats all you're doing good dude!

I'm doing coco with autopots right now...I really enjoy running autopots they are so easy to use, you can go out of town for a couple days and not have to worry about anything

Are those the wicking things? They seem pretty neat. How small is the line? 1/4"? Do you use drip clean? Was thinking about the Blumats, maybe one long and one short per pot. They're supposed to work well in coco too.

Yes yes yes and it yes it is.. I love them. Self feeding from the bottom, the aqua valve opens and let's in more water when the tray runs low.. set your ppm and ph fill res with nutes. And not have to worry about feeding or overwatering or under watering.

You start them with hand feeding or folier feeding for first 2 weeks until they establish roots and then you turn the system on. Only downfall is how expensive they are and if you break something on the aqua valve or need extra parts it's all based out of the uk

You guys know anything about compost teas and follier feeding? I've been reading up on it, just want to know anyone who has done it first hand

Well, yea. Compost tea sprayed on foliage sets up competing bacterial colonies and discourages fungus like botrytis. You can DIY the compost/humic acid/worm castings or buy "soil soup" starter. Many truly organic growers use it.

A sulfur burn during veg works wonders too. The guy I know gets really low spore counts on his testing using these two approaches. And it's cheap. :thumbup

What he said. I've used both, they work.

Are you fertilizing those? With what and how often?

Stop treating those like hydroponic plants. You need ot realize that you are doing two different things. The plants in soil don't need to be fed daily. The ones in coco do.

I am watering the soil plants only when they need it and using only dynabloom and calmg on those. The cococoir I'm watering every day.

So I just walked outside and took these photos of my plants. Granted they are outside and started flowering but will go back into veg shortly.

Until about two days ago they have been in tiny clay pots no bigger than yours for about a month and a half. Other than some organic fertilizer I put in the pot when I first planted them, I haven't fertilized them once.
