The Home Grower's Thread

I'll lay a crisp twenty that the vast majority of those are from edibles.

But I agree that there needs to be a better method of measuring potency. However, if someone drinks a bottle of tequila because they think they're the hero of the party, I wouldn't call for liquor to be outlawed, or even controlled tighter than it is now.

Learn not to chug hard liquor, idiot.
Learn not to smoke so fucking much, idiot.

correct and fully agree

laws aren't made because of intelligent actions ;)

I don't think rosin press extraction is a big deal, but I'm not a fan of butane extraction. One because of the legal differences, butane extraction being on par with any other gnarly drug lab. Two because, well it's effing butane.

See that grey area about the whole concentrate thing just makes me go "NOPE." I'm good twisting one up. Fun fact, I also dig a 50/50 mix of a CBD strain and a "fun" strain.

Think of it like anything else. Proper farm to butcher chicken, or mechanically separated grey chicken meat made into nuggets. Big differences in process that should not be ignored.

Not sure on the extraction method honestly (not my thing either, he's just talked about it a bit). Haven't seen his setup but the way he described it it's definitely not a casual "just doing it in my oven in between pizzas" thing, he's spent a significant amount of money on proper lab equipment and set it up and whatnot.

I did the butane extraction a few years ago. Hell that was like ten years ago now. It was easy as hell. And holy god.

If you watch National Geographic's Weed episode they show a lot of home videos of people blowing themselves up trying to make butane shatter.

Is that better or worse? Much higher pressure, but aren't the vessels much smaller with co2? Less stored energy? Big bucks for that gear.

It's the cleanest ways to do it and actually the safest since you don't have a volatile solvent. Is it dangerous? Yes, and it should be in a contained space and not your backyard.

You can get into with the coldfinger winterizer for $16k but you will need some knowledge to go with it. It's real lab equipment. It just doesn't make a whole lot

A real setup to hold 3# and create 125 grams will run you $250k starting.

Dang. I like that hardcore gear. Don't want any of it on my property, but I like it.

It's sexy stuff. We don't operate in the MJ business but they operate in ours so I've seen some really cool setups.

So I moved the sprouted OG Lemon Kush autoflower to the 2 gallon pot after 13 days. It was wilting a little even though not over or under watered, and when I moved it to the 2 gallon the root growth was good so was that perhaps a sign of being rootbound? I will move the next plant earlier.

I'm hoping a 2 gallon is sufficient for a Space Bucket 3 month growth

Tahoes.

How do you guys dry and cure your buds and on average how long does each step take?

The variables here are many. The dispensary stuff I've seen is usually wet and spongy to keep weight. For DIY, you're looking at drying for 5-7 days, then "burping" jars for another week or two. Basically, drawing the moisture out from inside the flower to the outside (which dries quickly).

Do some reading on weed-centric sites. This is the point where novices ruin otherwise kind herb. Did you pre-trim? Did you hang whole plants? You might want to invite some barfers over to test throughout the process, for science. :thumbup
