The Official 2012 NFL Thread

^:laughing that's a lovely piece of something

yeah, jason tarver. already like him, as he graduated in BMB, just like me. so I know he's mentally capable. It's just about the toughest route to get a science degree that I know of, besides physical chemistry. And trust me: being a scientist doesn't pay nearly porportionally as to the effort it takes to become one. His dad was probably the first one to tell him to F teaching and go for the NFL.
yeah tarver is interesting. he was playing ball at santa clara when they discontinued the football program, went to west valley for a year then gave up football, got his degrees and then went into coaching. he was an olb coach with the niners, then spent one season as co-defensive coordinator at stanford. spent 10 years with the niners, wonder why harbaugh didn't keep him around?

guess the only question mark is lack of experience as a DC, but shouldn't be that big a hurdle since the HC is a defense guy.

seriously, do you ever stop being a dick? or is it a 24/7/365 thing?

Seriously? What makes me a dick? That someone posted nonsense, you agreed with them and I showed that you're both wrong? Do the homework yourself, google is your friend. There are just as many 1st round rookie WR's who excelled their first year as there are flops. Like any other position. WR's dont have a special rate of failure that other positions dont. Tory Holt, Randy Moss...you do the rest. It's just like any other position.

you know perfectly well-- unless you're extraordinarily dense-- that he didn't mean that statement literally. if he had, he would have stated it declaratively, "Calvin Johnson is the only receiver picked in the first round in recent years who hasn't been a bust." yet you still chose, as usual, to jump down someone's throat over an intentional overstatement and, as a bonus, mention someone from your team.

and you showed we were both wrong by citing one example? and now you're digging up dinosaurs? holt and moss? yeah, how about that jerry rice guy too? blows up the entire theory.

so, the first rd hasn't been a complete wasteland, but you can find guys in later rounds that have performed at least as well.

as for other positions, you figure that one out and get back to us.

I didnt "jump down" anyone's throat. What because I used the word Bullshit?! If he was offended by that, I'll gladly apologize. Really Max, in all honesty, stop being such a hypocrite in this thread. You correct people ALL THE TIME in NFL threads, and you bust balls when you do it. I dont have a problem with it. No one should. Its an NFL thread. So dont call me out, nor insult me, for doing what you yourself have done plenty of times.

As you mentioned, the first rd hasnt been a wasteland of WR's, which was exactly my point. Like any position, the WR spot for 1st rounders has had many success stories, and many failures. Like any position. I named four, not one example. AJ Green, Julio Jones, Torry Holt, and Randy Moss. They all had excellent, by anyones standard, rookie seasons. That was the only point I was making to begin with. That there were other WR's picked in later rounds who succeeded isnt relative to the discussion.

i don't know, maybe it's just the voice i hear when i'm reading your posts that makes them sound more histrionic and effeminate (i.e. bitchy). my bad. :p

Ha. I can deal with that. :laughing

Brandon Jacobs' answer when asked about Gisele's comments:

"She just needs to continue to stay cute and shut up"

for the thread posting natural hat trick, I submit this gem from my fave columnist:

similarity between NHL and NFL:

• You have weirdos (kickers). We have weirdos (goalies, Dallas Stars TV analysts).

difference:

• Most importantly, when our championship trophy, the Stanley Cup, is awarded, it is handed first to a player. Not a billionaire owner or a coach. In fact, every player touches our championship trophy before a coach or owner does. Football spends too much time talking about quarterbacks and coaches. We hockey fans know that from age 5 to age 40, it is and always should be about the players, all the players, first. Admit it, our trophy is way cooler. Classic Camaro cooler. Yours is akin to a Ford Tempo. Our trophy is also the best in the world because you can drink out of it. If I wanted to kill someone, I would probably choose yours. P.S.: I have no plans to kill anybody.

Dude must have missed the SB then, when every Giants player touched the Lombardi Trophy before it was presented to the owner.

You dont like the choice? I'm no fan of Pitt but it seems to be a good fit. He's going to keep the offense much like it was, pass oriented. That should make Rapelisberger happy.

For Pittsburgh, it's fine, but I'm not a Pittsburgh fan.... :laughing

By all accounts he wasn't a very good coach with a huge ego, not really a good combo, especially working for a GM with an even bigger ego.

He wanted more credit for KC's one good year so he ran Charlie Weiss out of town, and guess what, they tanked after that.

He spent this past season, the games he coached that is, attempting to blame Crennell, and that didn't work, and the topper, Crennell did alright when he replaced him (2-1, I think) with a newly acquired QB (Orton).

Let's see what happens when his ego starts clashing with Tomlin....

huh, I watched it but missed that part too....that's a good change in tradition.

Stay classy, Giants! :laughing

Dude, Big Thunda shoots his mouth off in Giants uncharacteristic fashion with a certain degree of regularity, but he is right the fuck on with this one. Do you think Brady is at all happy about his wife going after Welker to the press? He must be fucking FURIOUS.

She probably won't be seen in public until the bruising fades for that one.

Steve

SERIOUSLY. I mean shit, having your woman go after your guys might actually even be worse than if you go after them to the press yourself, because then you betrayed them AND you're a bitch.

Brady probably has enough cred to get past it with his guys, but that shit would RUIN a locker room for most Quarterbacks.

bah, in typical Underwear Model fashion, he probably took her shopping for shoes and didn't say shit.

:laughing

Forget Brady, he's a pussy...

Darth Hoodie though...especially after another SB loss....

I'd be gone fucking underground by now, if I were her...

:laughing
