The Official 2012 NFL Thread

move the kickoff back to the 30 and leave it the F alone again. jesus, it was working fine a few years ago. but I guess Devin Hester changed Goodell's mind somehow.

what a way to ruin a good night of bowling.

it would be nice to see improvement in just one area. pick one, any one. get better at it. build upon it. I thought it was going to be disciplined play, measured by amount of penalties, early in the season. but that's gone. there's really nothing to hang your hat on for Raiders fans right now. it's a hot steaming mess.

Huff was reported injured...I think he got benched after Manning made him look like a fool on the opening 3 drives. Hard to believe a wrist injury keeps a player in the secondary out. And that's the best they have back there.

McKenzie has made no secret of his desire to draft Manti Te'o, but the Raiders will probably play well enough in the final games to mess up their draft position.... :party

Yeh, I took my shots on Raider thread, but damn, that was painful. I might as well have spent last evening at a local hospice, watching people die. At least people try to be cheerful and find meaning at those places.

Turned it on at 6pm and heard them say "Manning already with 160 yards in the 1st quarter....." I didnt need to hear anymore.

The defense is Ho Ho Ho-rendous. The offense cannot score enough to compensate or even stay on the field.

Mcfadden is done. Shelve him and trade him in the off season. Not sure if the O line is problem but from what Ive read and heard, their zone blocking scheme works if the back can make cuts and find the wholes. Guy cant stay healthy.

Season is over. Throw in Prior and lets see what he can do. I think they'll stay with Palmer so they get the #1 draft pick. I think they are worried Prior will win. Isnt Prior roughly the same size as Colin Kaepernick?

I think all Raiders fans want to see Pryor in there. however, as I've heard on the radio: there must be a reason he's not making it onto the field on game day. his practices must be pretty bad for Allen not to even consider him. really there is no good reason to keep him out, unless he was just plain not performing well in practice.

What do you guys think of Goodell's idea of replacing kickoffs with a 4th and 15 situation?

I dislike it immensely. If they're going to throw the kickoff away, an idea I also dislike, then just place the ball on the 20 yard line, 1st and 10.

Eliminating the kickoff is really going to change the makeup of a football team. All of those special teams players who never see the field for regular play barring injury may not make the team now. It would be interesting to see what the makeup of a team looks like when special teams werent geared towards kickoffs anymore. I still dislike the idea though.

I kind of like the idea. I think it will put more creativity into the "4th and 15" game planning that might affect more than just how often a kickoff is done.

Meaning, a kick off is only done after scoring plays. Whereas a punt situation happens way more frequently. So if you started doing more game planning into punt formations and plays, it might make other areas of the game more interesting.

The other change I would like to make is that ALL scoring plays are should also be eligible for defensive points. Meaning even the PAT or 2PT conversion should be able to be scoring plays for the defense. It might not make a big difference, but I think it could decide some games. This year alone I have seen 2 interceptions on 2PT conversion attempts that could have swung the point difference to the defensive team.

I agree with this completely.

Well the Bungles showed up today. :nchantr

Atleast the Steelers lost too.

Dolphins giving the Niners a helluva good fight so far, three sacks for Cameron Wake in the first half. :teeth

Too bad there are two halves to a game...

Smith seems to be adjusting his sideline demeanor.

Seattle is in a close one, up by 51 & threatening even more.

Even the mighty Frank Gore discovered....you just can't run on the Fins, their front 4 are just too damn good. Their secondary is awful, but those front 4 ain't no joke.

Punt returner Thigpen totally screwed up and gifted the Niners points, that was a backbreaker, dammit. Catch the ball, bonehead. :x

Aldon Smith with two more sacks, he's gonna break Strahan's record for sure. :thumbup

he didn't seem to have that much of a problem. 5.3 yds/carry and a td on the ground, they just didn't give him the ball that much. james looked good running between the tackles, even dixon got some yards and a td.

The Niners couldn't do much against Miami on 3rd and 1 though. :laughing

Just glad Tannehill survived that game with a pretty good showing. Was afraid he was gonna have 3 picks and 2 fumbles vs the SF defense but he did ok. A rookie QB and rookie left tackle vs Aldon Smith. Coulda been a LOT worse.

Miami is obviously in rebuilding mode, just a low-powered offense really. Need a pass-catching TE and fearsome WR's. Bush can't score on every play.
