The Official 2012 NFL Thread

I forgot to add the laughing emoticon to my previous post.... :laughing

When a reporter asked who would start at QB next week against Detroit, Whisenhunt quipped: “Do you play?”

I know you weren't serious.

I love that the Cards won't commit to keeping Whisenhunt around for more than the remainder of the season. :rofl

NBC Bay Area ‏@nbcbayarea
RT @MaioccoCSN: Brandon Jacobs has been suspended for 49ers' final three games of the regular season.

Harbaugh's a pussy:

Harbaugh replied: “I'll go with the Fifth Amendment. I have no comment about that.”

Just say his conduct wasn't what the Niners expect, yadda. Don't punk out, nobody respects a wimp.

Yes, what a pussy for not talking to the media :rolleyes

Except the part that they released a public statement about him, at least to the degree of the suspension, and the course of action is obvious.

If you've pulled the trigger, man up and admit it.

:laughing

I agree, I have come to the conclusion that Harbaugh & the 49ers organization are cocksniffing coporate douchebag assholes. Fuck em:

1. business is business: so much for the old "you don't lose your job from injury". typical corporate fuckholery (and coming on top of the offseason shopping Manning etc)

2. business is business but fuck you too: the Jacobs situation and going out of the way to punish Jacobs by sitting on him. typical corporate sociopath assholery

3. moving the 49ers out of SF to southbay, just business only business

Rooting for the 49ers these days is like rooting for Bank of America or some such BS

JFC, Houston Texans. Way to humiliate yourselves on national TV.
It really seems like the experienced playoff teams are aroused for the duration of the season, and the Cinderellas are having trouble keeping from turning back into underlings. The Pats whupped those boys good. BUT, Brady took a lot of hits. That was a rough game in an already brutal sport on both sides...

As for the Niners, remember that the NFL is a tightly-controlled organization. I'm not surprised that they react in CYA mode over anything, no matter what team.

The Manning situation is a perfect example of why the Niners were *already* after a better QB. So why is Kaep a surprise?

As I already said, Tom Brady got his job because the Pro Bowl QB in front of him got hurt, healed, and yet told to sit on the bench even after healthy because noob Brady was kicking ass. The Patriots won 3 Super Bowls after that decision.

95.7 The Game pointed out, Kaepernick's numbers are roughly the same as Alex's. Some would argue "Why did you pull Alex then?"

Well those are Alex's BEST numbers after 7+ seasons. Kaep's are the same after 4 games AND he adds mobility and a better arm.

"But Alex has playoff experience"

2 games....2 games :laughing

And that makes perfect sense. If they are about the same, take the young guy. Same reason the Fins went with a raw rookie QB after training camp evaluation....the clueless rook was already doing about as well as the vet who had multiple years of experience.

Go with the young guy, he'll get better. The aged QB won't.

Smith's injury only sped up a situation that was going to happen anyway.

An imperfect comparison, but Steve Young was stouter and less injured and better runner than Montana so its not like we are without precedent. We've been through the painful comparisons and discussion about age, experience, versus younger, more raw talent. Montana had also undergone back surgery even though he came back strong, almost miraculous.. When Kaep runs, it just about takes my breath away, that guy is like some kinda antelope or something (we haven't seen his best yet, I don't think)....Not because I'm a homer, but I do think that while RGIII is an entertaining scrambler, Kaep is a courser and I would put money on it that he will be less injury-prone than the rockstar.. He can really go and is so strong that you know he'll get extra yards on the way down and take a few defenders with him. (And keep in mind, I'm pretty guilty that Smith isn't the starter, it just doesn't seem right).

1. Already addressed, but I'm sure there are people who would criticize the opposite approach. Staying with the old guard for the sake of loyalty is not necessarily admiral either. Sometimes change can be good, even if it's a little rough during the transition.

2. Jacobs ran his mouth, I would do something similar if I were coach too. Given Harbaugh's philosophy of team first, Jacobs' comments would not sit well with me at all. He was suspended so that other teams couldn't poach him and use him against the Niners. Smart move IMO. It also discourages other players from trying to bring down morale.

3. I'm in agreement with you there, not happy about that, but the numbers don't lie. If I were to receive a portion of the additional expected revenue, you can bet I'd want to move the team too.

alex lost his job because the niners are more dangerous with kaepernick. you want to play not to lose you go with alex, you want to play to win, you go with kaepernick. (that dude needs a nickname)

Double edged sword, Harbaugh is probably why Manning didn't go to the 9ers.... :laughing

I blame the other Bay Area team...how could Manning pass up a chance to play the Raiders and Chiefs twice per season? It's like a four-game vacation. :laughing

Kaep, you call him Kaep, like a hat, duh.

Just noticed that Aaron Rodgers has been sacked 42 times this year, by far the most sacks of any QB in the NFL. Biff boom pow.

And yet he still has a 103 QB rating, 29 TD's and only 8 picks.

Dude has a pair.
