The Official 2012 NFL Thread

i will ignore your completely logical argument and inject a picture of Crabs and Moss together in 2012!

(stolen from the Niners page on G+)

Cute.

I'll add:

A 35 year old WR that didn't even play last year, and didn't decide he could find another sucker this seasonwas coming out of retirement until 3 weeks ago.

Eh. I'll give HarBaalke the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

I see the Value of Moss being that he makes it impossible to to trust a Linebacker in Zone Defense to take care of him. He's a resource drain that opens things up for Davis and Crabtree. It's a reasonable gamble for a 1 year deal while you try to figure out what your long term solution at WR is, which was a problem position last year.

exactly the same thing said about Braylon.

in fact, i was less enthused about Braylon because he's never proven he is anything more than a giant, walking case of the droppsies.

Exactly, and (IMO) it removes the need to give up their first rounder to sign Wallace away from PIT. Resign Josh Morgan and Ted Ginn, all of a sudden the WR Corps looks like Moss, Crabtree, Morgan, Ginn. That's a huge improvement from last year.

They can hope Stephen Hill is available when they pick at 30, or if not take Peter Konz to solidify the OLine for 10 more years and then get Tommy Streeter in the 3rd and have him learn from watching Moss for a year.

Moss shouldn't hit the books too hard salary-wise, so I think sf should still go out and get someone like Garcon. Ginn as the #4 receiver doesn't look good. Moss is a question mark at 35, Crabtree and Morgan have had missed games due to injuries. With another WR threat, that'll keep Ginn focused on kick/punt returning, and when the injuries come sf will have some depth to deal with it.

McKenzie's making some solid decisions in the face of a really tough situation, with being so far over the salary cap and all. Wimbley will be interesting, as he's due 17.5M if he's not cut by Saturday, or 6.5M if he is cut....not a good contract, Mr. big-Al-in-the-sky.

as far as free agents, signing Bush and Giordano would be all I would do. let the rest leave.

garcon is off the market, redskins. looks like they might get josh morgan too. that sucks, was hoping both would be with the niners.

WWAD!

Well, at least I'm not the only person that remembers. :laughing
if moss becomes a problem, he's gone. the niners showed that they'll drop someone before he becomes a cancer when they dropped braylon edwards despite having a dearth of players at wr. moss is 6'4" probably still has better hops than most, he should be a danger in the red zone. if plaxico can sit out 2 seasons and still be a useful red zone target, you have to believe moss can

Smith to Moss on the corner fade , Post, and 9 (Go) route ALL DAY. WRITE IT DOWN. Its a power move for the Offense. I mean who else could we bring in thats going to force DB's to play back outside of Vincent Jackson? This is going to open things up underneath, don't doubt the madness of Harbaugh.

When Moss left the Raiders what were they saying....hes done, no more explosiveness, he won't be a factor. What did he do single season TD record with Brady that was Flash 80's record BTW.

I'm pretty juiced we got em. I wouldn't be surprised if we gave Owens a once over before the season starts too lol.

Notice the Frisco ball cap! It was preordained!

that was 5 years ago now. with Brady passing to him.

he's been cut by 3 teams since. and he'll have Alex Smith trying to get him the ball.

seems like a recipe for disaster to me, but who knows.

That was also the Brady of 5 years ago, before he got married/started losing Super Bowls.

But yeah...5 years ago, 35 years old now, didn't play last year, hasn't worked out for some good teams.

Any dude that toxic, is only worth considering if you A) think you can fix him -- which has to mean half a dozen other coaches haven't already tried and failed or B) he's so talented you think it's worth it, which is usually a sucker's bet.

B) Might very well have been true of Moss once. But now?

Morgan is getting 6m per year. Uh, thanks for playing. How is Washington dropping so much on free agents when they just got hit with 18m per year in cap fines
