The Official 2012 NFL Thread

They could just go back to LA. that would be just fine.

I think Pleasanton is a great spot. 580/680/BART..

yeah, just what they need...more traffic. the 580/680 junction is consistently rated two of the top 10 worst traffic areas during commute hours in the entirety of CA (1 for the morning, 1 for the evening).

unpleasanton....:laughing

What a HORRIBLE trade too. The skins gave away their 2012, 2013 and 2014 first round picks and their 2012 2nd round pick. Just to move up 4 spots and pick a potential starting QB. Is Ditka working for the Redskins now? Dan Snyder is an idiot. It looks like Cleveland was willing to do the same deal but the Skins jumped first.

Jets signed an extension with Mark Sanchez.

3 years 58M :rofl

2 years, 27M guaranteed. :rofl :rofl

This puts SF in a BAD spot with Alex Smith though. He already wanted Ryan Fitzpatrick money, now he's gonna want Sanchize dough.

I really don't understand some of the contracts being given out this year. I suppose based on his win/loss record overall since his rookie year a big contract like that makes sense, but based on his stats, he just robbed the Jets. In three years he's proven to be a very mediocre QB who hasnt completed 60% of his attempts, (one of the benchmarks of a good QB), and his passer rating is in the low 70's. In his two years as a starter, Colt McCoy has very similar stats to Sanchez, but they want to run him out of town in Cleveland.

Nobody said Ohio football was well managed.

I think it really boils down to the teams are paying the players for the performance/status they want, not necessarily what they are getting.

I think this was always a trait of Al Davis. If he made one of his players the "Highest Paid" at their position, he was automatically one of the best at his position...

Would the universe laugh itself into oblivion if Peyton starts Tebowing in a donkey's uniform?

The Giants cut Big Thunda if anyone is looking for a 3rd down Power Back, I think he could be a good buy for the right team. I'm a little sad to see him go, but he just was getting paid too much to be our 3rd Down guy and Bradshaw has earned the Start.

The consensus seems to be that Miami is the best place for Manning to land, but in my opinion, Denver makes more sense. One, the division is weaker than the AFC East, two the Denver Defense is solid, and 3 the broncos offense is ready to be led by a real QB.

jets and redskins are some stupid fucking franchises. great trade for the rams, great contract for mark mediocre sanchez. :facepalm

niners could definitely use someone like that: red zone tds and 3rd downs were a problem. think they'll draft someone in the 1st 4 rds though. need to line up gore's replacement. otoh, they probably will replace 2 rbs (dixon and norris) so i could see a draft pick coming in to get groomed as the full time rb and someone like jacobs replacing norris (who was completely worthless)...

I thought Hunter was doing great as a back up to Gore? I think a 3rd Down back like Jacobs could help you guys for sure, but I didn't see RB as a real big pain area for the Niners with Gore and Hunter on track.

Hunter is a stud in waiting. RB is not a need for SF.

Honestly, as much as I didn't want Manning to be considered, if this Sanchez extension and the previous demand for a Ryan Fitzpatrick type deal means that Alex Smith is gonna want fuck off money, let him walk and give Manning a big 2 year deal and let Kaepernick take over after that

or, tell Andrew Luck to pull an Eli and demand to be reunited with Harbaugh in SF, and send Kaep and the #30 pick to Indy after they pick Luck -- ethics be damned :rofl

More money than sense is a common ailment, but yeah...

Sanchez got them to like what, two playoff games?

Decent enough, to be sure, but not worth that kind of money.

Shit, gamble or not, for that kind of money you're looking at Peyton fucking Manning these days.

I think he got them to back to back AFC Championship games his first two years. But really, it's just as accurate to say their defense did. Dude is the epidome of a mediocre NFL QB.

Its becoming clear that sf and Smith are going to be stuck with each other for better or worse. All the Qb action around the league is working against both of them. Pickings are getting slim for both alternate Qb options for sf, and destinations for Smith to land.

I'm guessing Alex will cave and agree to a 3 year deal soon
